Dreams of a Dino

Can i have a Pterodactyl ?

a little girl asked her Dad

He pondered for the shortest of whiles

fearing she’d gone Mad

You see she’d been off to the Zoo wi’ school

and thought the dinosaurs looked cool

so saving all the pennies she had

appealed for the rest to Mum and Dad

So off to the shop, Dad and Daughter went,

Dad hoping his little one would relent

There were Hamsters and Gerbils, Toads and Frogs

Fish and regular Cats and Dogs

She couldn’t see the dino that flies

and all at once, she began to cry

The visit it seemed, was a bit of a mess

When round from the corner – who do you guess

Mr Pet Shop Owner, who had a few words

with the little girls dad , about lizards and birds

and the girl indeed cheered up, when all became clear

and a relative of the Pterodactyl – soon appeared

Now its beak, it was shorter – but colourful too

and it had lots of feathers, red green and blue

and she smiled when the bird started singing it’s song

“It’s the loveliest Dino in the petshop all day long!”
