Pie

Pastry packet with a rounded base

a favourite thing to have in my place

crack open the lid – watch the steam fly

as you open up your oven baked pie

Eaten at luncheon or maybe at tea

cooked in the oven at 180 degrees

served up with vegetables or maybe just chips

you have to be careful – don’t burn your lips

Varieties are plenty – there’s the pasty or slice

filled up with fillings that are equally nice

from Mexican spicy to Madras that is hot

or a standard Cornish pasty – that hits the spot

And the fillings in th’ pastries – all come wi a sauce

that’s released from the parcel when opened of course

so when you bite in – don’t get in a hurry

if you get a blast of pepper, or chilli or curry
