An attempt at Salvation

#Oranges

In the days of Blackbeard and Captain Jack
the pirates on the high seas, didn’t have the knack
to keep those nasty bugs away
and it kept many sailors below in sick bay

Now the captains handed out in a fashion,
something that was landed with all the mens ration
a colourful thing grown in the hot sun
and handed by the ships mate one by one

This fruit it was tasty and fruity
and its colour it gave it its name
and it kept all the crew nice and healthy
till they were back home in port all the same

now you might seem to wonder its origin
for they got them in Port, south of Spain
and it stopped the crew catching a bug fest
till they landed in Port, once again
