Sparrows dance around the birdbath
in the hope the cold water will cool them of
expectations – that the landlord of their garden inn
supplies a big enough refill of the snacks
tasty morsels to go with the cool
aqua mineral in the stone pool
Sat outside a city taverna
in the shade of a parasol keeping out of the sun
enjoying a drink with your workmates
shade a happy escape from the
torment of an oven roasting office
air conditioning now provided by the coastal breeze
