but beyond his little dominion of four brick walls
there’s the spirit of a much larger cousin
waiting to explore his own little kingdom
maybe that’s why he likes untrimmed lawns –
his own private jungle off the front door
look out little birdies
he’s out on the prowl
and his owner won’t know
till he’s left his catch on the step
