While Conifers sit proud in the local park

the local wildlife is preparing

for the day that the mercury in the thermometer

beats a hasty retreat

Squirrels Red and Squirrels Grey

scour the fallen seeds of the day

and having collecting them, storing away

it’s plenty of work – and no real play

The feathers ruffle at weather cold

so the birds follow paths many years old

heading for places where outside’s nice and warm

and icicles forming – isn’t the norm

But hark – i hear the wildlife shout

are you sure Winter’s here? There’s no snow about

as the last rays of autumn come down from the sun

they’ll run, leap and swoop for some last minute fun
