Found in the Lost and Found

Now….how did that wind up in here?

I’m pretty sure that someone’s going to miss it

left on a platform at half past three

as thoughts turned to tickets and the station car buffet

It was found – abandoned – catching rays of summer sun

creating colourful rainbows, but not for long….

a magpie’s plaything – that twinkled when station lights

fell upon it

“SHINY!” chirped the magpie

till a guard intervened

and it was elevated from its ordeal

and into relative safety

Now resting in a darkened spot

with other abandoned things – by the teas and coffees

it would wail if it could

but that would only attract the birds again
