Colour in the garden

Marigolds (Image by inky)

Mr Fotheringill cleared out a patch of ground

for his grandsons to play with

they dug their holes and planted

what they thought were just plain little seeds

they gave them some water everytime

they visited their nanna and grandad

and kept an eye on their spot in the garden

then one day after christmas, little shoots appeared

popping up to see the sun – the children kept on watering

with their special buckets

and the little shoots rose up into the air

bursting out colour like fireworks
