Your attempts at mending the clockwork toy

were merely all in vain

for that all elusive part that you look

has gone towards the drain

you were cleaning each part in the sink

when a part or two headed for the brink

a travel down to the sewage farm

you thought you had saved them – without harm

but searching the u-bend – they cannot be seen

so a venture to the jewellers – you are keen

in order to obtain a replacement part

to get the toy working – well its a start.

Your trip to the jewellers – you had to do

for that part you needed – just wasn’t a screw

if only you’d thought to look under your foot

that part you were looking for is stuck – in your boot!
