While i’ve been volunteering at a local museum

its been important to know your audience

  1. Despite your knowledge of the subject matter – there will always be 1 who supposedly knows it better than you. If you can – give them the floor
  2. Know where everything is – from the loos to the cafeteria
  3. Know your little objects as well as your big ones
    1. There are 7 large objects in the museum i volunteer at and hundreds of others spread in a space which has 6 separate areas
    2. Children tend to jump headlong into an question – so point them in the right direction
    3. Geography wins over History every time – so when you’re directing use the zones you have

4. Finally – DONT PANIC

5 Final Finally – ENJOY IT – you might get some credit for your work!
