Watching it Snow

#Promptuarium

You had an idea it was coming

The ladies and gents of the met office

had been talking about it for weeks

on daytime tv

The Clouds too, in their Marshmallow way

had given you an inkling of the next few hours

while the mercury in the kitchen thermometer

refused to budge

The birds, made a move

from their preferred position on telly aerials

to a more secluded spot

under the roof tiles

Winter Hill – temporarily stopped

so on the radio, programmes popped

while shapes of snow, one and all

on country and city roofs do they fall

The snow kept falling – what could they do?

birds keeping together – in nesting sites new

while plans afoot – by kids to do

to build a snow house – a garden igloo
