The world Taekwondo championships are coming to Manchester’s Arena complex – here’s my take on it.

A Meeting of many, the great and good
Assembled in East Manchester
As sporting gods and goddesses
Aimed a beeline to glory

Airplane, Bus or Train they arrived
Awaiting their chance to
Apply their sporting skills
And achieve great heights – and maybe a medal

A quick fired melee of
Assorted kicks, flicks and punches
Aimed at an opponent whose
Armory is just as potent

As eager crowds
Assemble at the arena
And the athletes await
A chance to be crowned champion
