They keep on saying, that it’s a redundant art

and yet, every morning there’s a wait for the van

with the woman or man

carrying the letters

Messages shared, along with the bills

drop on to the carpet, that gravity spills

carried through day and sometimes by night

by foot, van or bicycle – or even by flight

Time’s been taken, to craft in ink

a letter , with news, or what people think

and carried with the parcels and cards for miles

delivered through letterbox, all with a smile
