Apprentice

Apprentice

Written by Brian F Kirkham for the Apprentice prompt 7/5/2017

Flour strewn across the table

cocoa liberally cast on the floor

cinnamon dust lines the air

cutting through the icing sugar fog

And through the icing sugar mist

the young lad who’s eager to learn

emerges to grab his bosses attention

he was watching as the sugar burned

but alas, he grabbed the oven door top

and as the door of the oven started to drop

he realised there wasnt enough water in the mix

as his cake creation put him in a fix

A cloud of sugary dust appeared

igniting to light his hair and his beard

apprentice or novice – his boss he was swayed

to call the number of the fire brigade
