Flame of Hope

olympic_trouch

Every four years, the torch guides the way

for sportsmen and women to come out and play

joining up countries, some new and some old

whos athletes are aiming for medals of gold

Created in Athens, the Olympian way

the Ancients in Athens, called out to say

we’ll meet you in Rio … now go tell them all

and out went the runners receiving the call

Flame passed between runners, across the sea

a symbol of hope for you and for me

passing through countries far and wide

spreading the nations Olympic pride

Through London and Paris in Olympic Squares

celebrations of the flame take place here and there

Passed along Spritely by the old and the new

As excitement builds … expectations do too

So, come on and watch, as the sun shines ahead

and cheer on the athletes who’s ambitions are fed

by support of the nations, supporting their team

Welcoming heroes …. fulfilling their dream
