A Plot of Earth

In response to the prompt A Plot of Earth

Small, Rectangular and Unassuming

hard to comprehend in the winter months, but

as the Mercury rises and the birds return

prized fruit begins to appear, first in flower , then in berry

even the black and white cat is pleased to see things grow,

sitting under the shadow of an acer tree

Potassium, Nitrogen and Phosphates

Lovingly turned into the soil by the gardener,

Over time , make the plants develop

Trees producing food for you and me, land their fruit

Softly on the ground – nice in a pie.

Perhaps the best time of day – spring winds

Lunging past the willows, bending

As birds pick up broken twigs, fallen

Navigating the trees for fixings for their nests

Towards the end of the day – they will construct but the

Sun is out, so on a perch they stay enjoying the flowers
