The latest challenge from the boys and girls at Napowrimo.net as part of my ongoing task to write a poem a day was to write a san-san
The challenge is here for anybody who wants to take it up : http://www.napowrimo.net/day-fourteen-3/
The rhyming follows a pattern of a-b-c-a-b-d-c-d
So, inspired by the nearby Tudor gardens at Ordsall Hall in Salford, here’s my latest effort –
Fruit Tree
Growing against a Tudor brick wall,
old fruit ripens for the pie
coming from the tree but once a season
upon the cooks demand do they fall
over the skies the crows do fly
could this be why they are picked with haste?
there could be no other plausible reason
but to deprive the feathered friends from a taste
