Leaving

The time had come – to say goodbye

The plane at the airport was ready to fly

With bags all packed – we went to be

a final time by the clear blue sea

A Memory of this place I took

Drawing in pencil in my book

and saying goodbye in dipping my toes

the shoals of fish that swam round in rows

I’ll fondly miss dear Oludeniz

even though on day one I was in a tiz

But i’m reminded of those times by the sea

by the marble turtle who came home with me
