In the Hangar

D-Day Spitfire Airfix – Made and Photographed by BF Kirkham.

A poetry piece by B.F. Kirkham.

There’s a bucket of wings on the table,

but this ain’t no KFC

You’re there with your mates at the ready

and take home a plane for free

You pick up the pieces as listed

the fellow from museum there to help

as your classmates fumble with pieces

and boys and girls start to yelp

Behind you is the perfect model –

they tell you it took men all those years

as part of the wing it does come off

and it almost brings you to tears

Patience – comes call from behind you

as you fiddle with the pieces for a while

it won’t take you long – and you can’t get it wrong

as the teacher gives you a smile

Suddenly it all comes together

the tail end the wings and the prop

resembling that big plane behind you

and its something you don’t want to drop

So you say ta to the model instructor

with your plane that’s been made paid and mended

and your classmates all fly, those planes from time gone by

before the trip to the museum is ended.

Soaring through Salford Skies

#Salford #Birds #Blue #Skies

24th May 2020

Swiftly flying through the blue

a whole host of feathered friends

lift their wings and soar through the air

for while the humans stay indoors

only the odd cat need be looked out for as they

roll about and enjoy the summer air

dancing around the tree tops and saying hello through the windows

Ode to a fly

#Napowrimo #fly #insect

A fly flew round the mulberry bush

the fly himself got bored

he headed for an open window

and through the air he soared

his little wings a flying

he stopped upon something sweet

he landed on the bowl they were in

and decided to enjoy a treat

but then who should come wondering,

as he came out of the cage

with feathers red blue and green

landing by little flies stage

and the bird had our small friend for dinner

as on the orange he munched

so now say goodbye, to our small friend , the fly

who the birdie has just had for lunch

Disappear

Disappear

where did he go ?

that master of the air

flying his plane without a care

he drifted his wings out into the fog

over the plains and the wet soggy bogs

and the plane spotters radioed out to the skies

hoping his plane would return in surprise

but over the radio the controller was in tears

our master aviator …in the skies….disappeared!

In time – you’ll become a wonderful thing

Noted for the wonderful patterns on your wing

Caterpillar family – small you may be

Hoping to sleep in the best of the tree

When you are little – you cannot be seen

Out eating the leaves of the trees whilst you’re green

Remaining on trees till you start to take flight

Making small kids smile from morning through night

Griffin

Mythical

Mighty mystical creature of folklore old

Your reputation goes before you

Terrorising the neighbourhoods in days of yore

Head of an eagle, body of a lion

Invincible in flight – no knight could catch you,

Capturer of any treasure hunter wanting to get your gold

Altai mountain kings regard you as their guard

Looking after jewels brought up from the cavesgriffin

Butterfly

Butterfly

by Brian F Kirkham

Born from a tiny little egg

the caterpillar emerges

eating every leaf of green

it moves each every single leg

as it eats and growth it surges

till one day it hides away – to return with wings

it hides away unseen

and then the moment it breaks out – and its colour sings
