The bug

Salford 16th October 2020

I haven’t wrote much in regarding Covid – 19, but given the recent news on a proposed regionalised lockdown – here’s a mothra

A Mothra, from inky.

Well

Looking Around

Here we are

Another day of restrictions

Movements from here to there

Masked up in cause of health

while a bug we cannot actually see

attacks our friends and family for its enjoyment

irony calls – as the sun shines off the water

but there’s no chance for anyone to splash in it

simply sat on a near bench – for the briefest of moments

The many public buildings that are open – are trying their best

maximum of six – the magic number they say you can have

clear plastic screens in cafe’s , bars and museums around

even the pigeons seem to have stayed away

as the bug flies around with freedom

Distancing the order each week day

while locals await news around

bug – gone to ground

and scientists pray

bug – flies

away

Normal(ish)

Salford 6th June 2020

With this bug thats been floating around recently, those in the back doors of the nations governments have been referring to all the changes they’ve made in one particular phrase

The new normal

Now, we know they’ve been looking at a vaccine around the world, but before the mass testing begins – we’re sending people back to work and school before any sort of health implementation begins. Its nothing for our leaders to be proud of – the UK is only second to their American cousins in the number who’ve died….and Yet, Government Ministers – with the economy and their donors breathing down their ear – decided to send everyone back to work….we have to live with the distancing, facemasks and everything else.

They’re calling it the New Normal….forgetting this bug is still wild.

One place this isn’t taking place (Yet) – Arts and sports venues

sports fans are crying into their beer, and actors are having to use video conferencing tools to relay their plays…museums doing video clips

So while they’re queuing for miles for goods at the behest of the economy, signs “Normality” is back… are very very distant. Particularly when this Bug has its own named wards in hospitals up and down the country.

Visitors

Salford. 26th March 2020

In the time’s of this nasty virus

It’s very good to know

Mother nature’s sent out a message

and the birds have said hello

For while we’ve been in isolation

our friends with their wings have flown by

to give us some pleasant distraction

from the news that’s been catching our eye

Each day they’ve come out from their nests

where nearby trees they’ve had their rest

and flew around in a bit of a show

before off to their nests they would go

Sat on a roof or a nearby tree

landing in bird baths happy as can be

and enjoying the garden all for free

taking home worms for their tea.
