Ultimate questions

a thoughtful poem by inky

There are some things you could spend Millennia on

Like what’s beyond the star ?

Is it possible there’s some other life

on a planet way off far ?

and if they do reside on a far off planet

do they know if we exist ?

and do they act like our great scientists

going round the twist?

for they know without travel – by speed of light

it would take us many years

before another planet, like earth

would eventually appear

Or have they mastered travel by UFO

between our planets to and fro ?

Annija Veldre

The aliens were a little bemused

for while floating around earth, in the sky

they spotted something , that made them confused

and made them ask each other why?

for sat by a stretch of a sandy beach

a little girl stood surrounded by sea

attracted by the balloons –

there were two or three

“Would you like some help” – said the captain of craft

as the planets , they pulled her, fore and aft

“er yes, sir” the girl called out a little amused

seeing the spaceship – left her confused

The planets – above her – had lost their way

and some, like Jupiter were starting to stray

so the captain called up some extra ships

to grasp on the planets lines for grip

And the spaceships pulled the planets up to the sky

letting go of the planets and watching them fly

as they moved in the darkness with plenty of grace

as they found their positions in the map of space

And the girl in this story – well, what of her ?

The aliens discussed and began to confer

and gave her a gift that was worth more than balloons

precious stones from the rocket made when it went zoom

From the towers base

you could easily make

out where you saw

pathway to cosmos

lit up in plasma colours

laser pink and blue

UFO Friendly ?

a call to every craft –

“Come and Visit!”

Stars and Planets

Positioned Perfectly on

A darkened canvas

Comets , asteroids and meteors

Exploring from east to west

Sensational colours across the sky

Purples Pinks and other Rainbow tones

As you view the sights of

Creation of new planets from the

Explosion of an old star

Satellites travel through the darkness

Passing each planet on the way

Are the aliens at home ? or are they

Creating Mischief

Exciting young and old at the sight of a UFO ?

Neon Carrot

No denying the dish of the day

every rabbit around has been after

one since the man in the spaceship planted

nine hundred and ninety nine

Colourful seeds in the abandoned field

a whole host of wildlife had a share from

radishes to lettuce – with their extra special glow

rabbits enjoyed the carrots

of course – now they’ve eaten the alien crops

they’re easy to see – just not that easy to catch!

Moon Man

Salford 12th September 2018

#promptuarium #Visitor

When the men from the rocket

landed on the moon

they weren’t expecting

a reception committee

The locals hadn’t seen Astronauts

and invited them to tea

they looked a little different

but acted like you and me

And they helped the men collect

rocks and soil from the ground

as the bosses from earth

wanted to know – if there was life around

And after the ‘nauts had left for home

the moon people to earth would go

to learn about their next door neighbours

in their fancy UFO

Manchester 23rd August

landed from some far away land

far from out in space

he wanted to experience life at a different sort of pace

he landed at the airport

created a kind of scene

they hadn’t seen someone at customs

quite that kind of green

after getting past the customs

he went off to the hills

experiencing the climbing

the wind the air the chills

and when he’d seen all that

he headed for the beach

and stuck his feet with all twelve toes

in the cool waters he could reach

drying off in a deckchair

having enjoyed his dips

he watched the waves roll into shore

with a box of fish and chips

A piece inspired by a prompt from the promptuarium

As everyone watched

the moon do its disappearing trick

the new neighbours pulled up

and moved into the town

No one would spot

the family from space

as their landing craft

never left a trace
