Change in the weather

Salford, 28th August 2020

The bird’s seem to have got the message

The mercury is in retreat

A nip in the air – you’re feeling

As you’re heading down the street

Clouds of grey are gathering

waiting for their time

to sprinkle their raindrops down on the ground

blocking out the sunshine

And while cold air for autumn

seems to be the norm

our feathered friends have headed off

someplace tropical and warm

Don’t Fret though – as soon as the sunshine burns

those feathered friends, who flew off will return

land with little uns – who will have grew

onto a patch of green grass nearby you

Elephant

Each line of the elephant’s hide

like its mum and dad before it, has been well earned

each wrinkle in the trunk

positioned from moving fallen trees and

hosing down his brothers and sisters

at the jungle watering hole

now – when you catch his eye – he’ll observe you closely

that’s collected wisdom collected in every wrinkle and ripple

European Robin : Image by Inky

Returning to the garden after a brief sojourn

our friend you find on christmas cards, was found resting on the fence

bringing a spot of additional colour to the trees in the garden

its possible, he was interested in the wildflower seeds

near the little spruce trees – but he raised a smile as he hopped about

Breeze

Salford, 23rd May 2020

#weather #nature #winds #trees

Something’s afoot,

the barometer has moved with a bounce

it’s not a Winds day but it

feels like it and the

foliage on the trees – is dancing

Westerly winds

in a rush to navigate their way to

northern pennine hills

determined trees – doing their best to

stay upright from the invisible charge

Mahogany

Mahogany (Redwood)

Maybe its the deep red colour

as you stare at its grain that makes your

heart fall for the piece

of furniture its made from

great pieces of indian redwood

are carefully crafted into

naturally flowing tables and chairs

year upon year – as old is replaced by new in the forest

Feathered Friends

Salford 30th April 2020

They come back every spring time

when the mercury starts to rise

taking up a home in the trees

giving passers by a surprise

Two birds sitting in their nest

wait till little uns do arrive

then mum and dad will feed them

so the little uns do thrive

And each morning when the suns up

Mum (or Dad) does hop

out of their green leaved little home

on a journey to the shops

Returning with some corn or wheat

or maybe a worm or a bug

to feed up the little birdies

in the nest all nice and snug

But like all little children

they grow up and explore

so don’t be surprised, if in morning you rise

and find the kids next door

Drastic Haircut

In order to save their bosses some cash

the boys in charge of pruning

on the posh side of the road

gave the walkways arbors

really serious hair cuts

people were amused (or aghast)

as the trees they walked past

cautiously walking over in their shoes, pumps or boots

raised bricks caused by lumps of the trees roots.

Wildflowers

Salford 17th April 2020

A Spot

by the big trees became vacant recently,

considering the weather, i cleared the space and

dropped some the seed into a channel….no

expectations – i just need to water them during the day

flowers ? they’ll all be different and some you might

go and consider them as weeds in another garden – i just

hope they grow in the hard trowelled soil they’ve been buried in and

in turn, the birds find the bugs and not the seeds!

Bluebells

#writephoto #bluebells

Bluebell wood : Writephoto prompt by S.C Vincent

Brushing against the flowers in the carpet of blue

listen out for the chimes as you walk

usually, you wouldn’t hear them

except – on this occasion – there’s only the

birch trees – and they’re not saying much

even the squirrels are being quiet –

listening to the noise of the bluebells as they

lightly sway in the

spring breeze

Cabin

14th March 2020

Carefully crafted, from trees that now surround it

a place to get away from the strains of modern life

blessed with a wonderful view of the lakes and streams

in sight of nearby provisions, a short ride away

not forgetting some wonderful animals
