Off on a Walk

Cooped up inside

He tried his best to enjoy the festivities

Reality is – despite playing with all his toys

Indoors isn’t where he wanted to be

So, he persuaded his owner

To take him for a walk over the

Mossy greens of the local park where

A host of trees and twigs will be played with – on return

Sausages will be found in his bowl – Late gift from Santa Paws!

Resting in the corner of the back yard

on granite and limestone

conifers and other evergreens

keep their spot looking tidy

Growing at a pace

a number will have to wait till their

rosy flowers appear with the warm weather

deciduous plants cold in the cold of winter

except when they’ve been clipped for

new table decorations at Christmas

Unseen

The crows sat atop the garden trees

looking for their friends

They’d hopped onto a thermal wind

headed for lands end

the pigeons were still sat about

on a gable end

but the other birds were hidden

on a greenish bend

for while the trees were caked with snow

and the winter wind did blow

the birds at home stayed in their nest

away from the most unwelcome guest

Problem is the guest – you could not see

and turned up unexpectedly

with his chums rain, sleet and snow

popping up to say “Hello!”

and while the guest blew up the snow

amounts of white stuff it did grow

so deep in the evergreen the birds all flew

while winter turned trees into an igloo.

Retreat

#WDYS

A perfect getaway

set in trees and mountains

a place to get away from it all

take in the mountain air

and catch a fish or two

then perhaps after you’ve ate

you dip your toes in the waters blue

Freezing

If you think you’re feeling cold today

count yourself lucky

you could be a bird

hanging about in the winter time

tending to its clutch of eggs

while cold winds from the north

blow through the trees

that said, you could be a fish

down in the water of the darkest sea

the ice might be on the surface

cold and bright white

but its perishing below

you could be a vegetable

freshly picked today

and put in a bag with others

before you can get away

then stored in a great big chiller

with the door closed behind you with ease

its a hardlife, living as it does

as a garden pea.

Weather Winter

waiting on the snow

#weather

There must be something

wrong with the thermometer

for the man at the met.office

is suggesting we all

wrap up snug and warm

in the next few days

His colleagues and pals

say “its too warm for snow”

but its hiding in the clouds

while the winds are a go

waiting for a mercury drop

when on the grasses and roofs it’ll stop

So while it’s in clouds

the wildlife will stay

having their fun and playing away

till the flakes of snow land on the ground

and they head for their nests and burrows around

Emerging

#Writephoto #Emerging

Everybody – keep calm

may as it seen – it looks like a giant coming through the wall

every forester knows who it is – its Pan!

reviving the trees and preparing them for autumn

green grasses being pushed up by his fingers

it might come as a shock – but hes a busy guy this time of year

note how the seeds are opening up and falling to

ground ? Thats all down to him

Forest Walk

#WDYS

Its early morning

It Might not be St. Tropez

but it’s got its advantages

holidaying in a forest setting

sunlight peeking through the trees

looking out for birds and squirrels

and all before returning to the comforts

of a log cabin – where little un will draw what she’s seen

The “Green” Bin

#CFFC #Pink

It’s hidden away

the muncher of the grass clippings

but easily spotted

if you know where to look

The Acer and the conifers smile

as the backyard waste control

engages with the garden ornaments

in a game of hide and seek

Garden Fairies Giggle

as his strawberry coloured hat

tells every bird and squirrel

exactly where he is

But One day – what’s this?

He seems to have disappeared

Wondering beyond the rock garden

That’s weird.

He’s been emptied out

by the big white van

to turn the clippings to biofuel

that’s the plan.

The Visitor

#promptuarium #thevisitor

Living down in the depths of the deep

this merman surfaced – from the water he leaped

to replace some greenery that fell in the sea

the hedgerows and bushes, the occasional tree

And he made some friends – with the kids from the shore

learning about the fallen plants and more

they were growing their flowers and he was keen

to share details of sea plants that he had seen

So during the months and days that passed by

the merman kept watch on the cliffs and the sky

while the birds and the humans enjoyed the scene

the lovliest spot there had ever been.
