Halloween Pumpkins (Image from stock art created by inky)

The lanterns welcome the little gremlins to the door

joined by ghosts and ghouls the odd vampire or monster

together with animals of all sorts

knocking on doors , all through the night

giving the neighbours occasional fright

toffees and chocolate fill up their bag with

fruit lollies making up part of their swag

in haunting light they’ll make their way

till they head to their homes to party and play

Out at Night

#Promptuarium #Octpowrimo #halloween #goblins

Out in the farmers field

while the pumpkins slept

out in the field

something crept

leaving a trail of

debris in their way

stopping the chance

of hallows eve play

a question they ask

a simple why?

do people persist with the lanterns ?

they like pumpkin pie….

For its not just trick or treaters

on halloween night

who are frightened away

by the lantern light.

They want to have fun

They just want to play

so to Mr Jack-o-lantern

Please go away!

Only One

#Octpowrimo #WDYS #Doughnut

Only the one, you said….as

Out of the the bakers door you came,

Overloaded with tasty treats, laden

One on top of the other.

Of course, you’ll be sharing those

O shaped pastries when you get back home….

Only the problem is this

Out of all those sugared doughnuts – how many will remain

On your eventual return ???

Looking through the bakers window

#napowrimo #bakers #window

I can remember walking past the bakers shop

I was six or seven,

a special treat – but only to be eaten after lunch

and that was if – i could find it

you see, my treat was hiding around the bread rolls

playing peek a boo by the chocolate cakes

and skipping around the Chelsea buns

but there was always a moment

where he’d pop up in the bakers window

to say hello

adorned with glace cherries and coloured icing

so i’d forget the iced buns or the Egg Custards

and enjoy my special tasty treat

provided by the baker who made my gingerbread man

Hop

#easter

Photo by Olya Kobruseva on Pexels.com

Who’s that hopping in the garden

dropping eggs round the lawn

“I’m celebrating” he tells everyone

“The saviours been reborn”

and so with his very bouncy feet

he’s leaving everyone a treat

in places that are not so sunny

delivering gifts – the easter bunny

Stollen

Stollen : created from Stock Art in Painnt,

Something seasonal served

traditionally in the festive time

of the twelve days of christmas

like mince pies – they’re filled with fruit, but

like christmas cake – there’s a layer of marzipan in

every icing sugared slice

naughty or nice ? a treat after the christmas dinner

Trick or Treat ?

#Socs #Halloween #Trick #Treat #octpowrimo

Jackolanterns (art by inky)

No lanterns coming to the front porch

No ghosts floating past the door

No Vampires not worrying ’bout their canines

No Werewolves coming to explore

The street is surprisingly quiet

the children all indoors

as parents keep them from bugs in the air

and other nasty spores

But there’s bobbing apples a plenty

and games in the family house

and treats and the telly, filling their bellies

till they all have to be quiet as a mouse

Piggy Pink

Pink Piggy Cakes

Pink piggies like the ones in the farm

on a plate with instant charm

really tasty with their marshmallow noses

krafty icing with a number of poses

perhaps you’d be worried – about poor mr pig

in fact – when i tell you – you might do a jig

news is – i can tell you – that no pigs come to harm

king of his field – is still sat in the farm

Ode to a fly

#Napowrimo #fly #insect

A fly flew round the mulberry bush

the fly himself got bored

he headed for an open window

and through the air he soared

his little wings a flying

he stopped upon something sweet

he landed on the bowl they were in

and decided to enjoy a treat

but then who should come wondering,

as he came out of the cage

with feathers red blue and green

landing by little flies stage

and the bird had our small friend for dinner

as on the orange he munched

so now say goodbye, to our small friend , the fly

who the birdie has just had for lunch

Toastie II

Salford, Sunday 5th April 2020

To many, it’s better than Sunday Lunch

Over the country, they’ve been cooking under the grill

A combination of Ham and Cheese, and sometimes tomato

Sitting under the grill and combining to make a

Totally tasty treat

Instantaneous flavour from bite to bite

End to scrumptious end
