An ink explosion

#octpowrimo #ifiwereyou

opinion is a wonderful thing

but after you’ve vented your spleen

across two pages of finest vellum

re read, recollect your thoughts, and rewrite

for once you’ve stuck it in the envelope

and it’s journeyed to the news paper

a different edition of who you are

will be plastered over the letters page

and though you won’t see them

all eyes will turn on you

#Thoughts #Bubbles #Marshmallows #Clouds

Salford 9th July 2018

The light little cirrus and stratus

help themselves to their

own little place in the sky

until the cloud departs they’ll be overlooked by the

great thinker of the skies himself – cumulonimbus – who’s

happily floating over the air

thinking about their next destination

some might call them Marshmallows, others call them ‘thought stores’

Memory

Salford, Tuesday 15th May

Since my last episode with my IV shunt, I’ve become more appreciative of what makes a memory

the smell of cooking of an apple pie in the oven

the sound of my favourite music 🎶 on the wireless

the feel of my iwm fleece, that I wear when volunteering

All these things meet up in the information store in my brain where those clever little neutrons in my head store them for future reference in this vast library 📚 of learning.   There’s two other sections of this library, one holds a giant encyclopaedia of facts……the semantic section, whilst the other contains a multimedia extravaganza, full of music, pictures, film, tv and photographs

now since my shunt was revised, there’s been a bit of a mess in the semantic section, and it’s sister branch the episodic section….which holds memories of events and such.  It’s not that I’ve completely forgotten about certain things, I just have to go back a few pages to remind myself of things

photographs help.  Show me a photo of a place I’d been at and I’d be able to tell you the who the where and when the photo was taken.  It’s probably the reason I’ve taken an interest in using a digital camera, for a visual cue usually triggers a memory of an event

and of course there’s the memory aids – Those colourful notebooks full of my random thoughts and scribbles.  Now i’ve set myself up on wordpress i’ll occasionally share the ramblings of what i’ve picked up in the day, but it always pays to go back to the source – even if it is to source out that chocolate cake recipe i picked up in cooking demos.

Here and Now

Salford 19th February 2018

Present

I can look back on yesterday

Ponder my actions

Examine my thoughts

Tomorrow lies ahead

but sat here in the moment

its so far away

Preparation – in a short while

for journeys to come

can ease any last minute nerves

The future can wait

till the sun rises again

when tomorrow becomes today

Clouds

Tuesday afternoon.

Marshmallows floating over Greater Manchester

Take away the blue in the sky

and those clouds seem to develop

like a photograph in a laboratory

the clouds grow and move become more defined

and you find yourself looking for sleeping cherubs

Glass

Glass

4th August 2017

Got to the end of the bottle

Looking back at your achievements

Are you happy with what you’ve done

Some say your glass is almost empty, whilst others

Say its till full to the brim – Seize the Moment – Seize the day.

Suitcase in a hall

Waiting,
As they run around I sit here…
It’s part of the job
Taking five until the cab arrives
I watch them as they dash about
Note however…. as they run… I’m ready to
Go to our destination

Thought

Candle

candle

Sat in solemnity

the light brightens

the dark of midnight

Prayer for a loved one

the young old, the sick, the traveller,

kept in a moment of action

The light travels far

directing the thoughts of those

who’s thinking about their own

And the wax melts

tears of sadness or joy

fall in line down in line

And as the light continues to shine

the sign of the holders

shines out for all to see

Going cold turkey for Lent

In response to the prompt

https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/craving/

It’s hard giving up something you love,

even more when its everywhere in plain sight

but – you made the conscious decision

of giving up chocolate for Lent….

problem is – It’s EVERYWHERE!

Chocolate bars on the counter

Chocolate eggs on the supermarket shelf

So for thirty days – your chocolate cell acts like a demented toddler

“I Wanna bar of Chocolate!!!!” it screams

The arrival of the Easter Bunny can’t come soon enough.
