Thinking of Breakfast

#writeclub #breakfast

Photo by Valeria Boltneva on Pexels.com

Up all night

travelling in their magnificent chariot

making their way to their destination

Thinking of breakfast

Driving to Penzance

from John – o – Groats

looking to fill the stomachs and throats

Thinking of breakfast

Dropping off cargo, at a rendezvous point

all the time thinking, of a roasted lamb joint

or bacon or sausage – a hash brown or three

washed down with Orange juice or perhaps ice tea

Making the regulation breaks on the way

in the services he’ll sit and he’ll stay

Bacon and sausage on plates – can they do?

No, so tween four bits of wholemeal he’ll chew

It makes quite an impression

travelling from well to page

communicating words thoughts and ideas

from quill , pen or printer

to paper

Journal

#Socs

A simple little book

filled with ideas, scribbles and thoughts

lists of things from shopping to travel

diary listings, and recipes of the day

half written reminders and poetical prose

cobbled together with the odd written drawing

kept in a box in a private library

so you can always go back to it!

Cupcakes on a tray , Painter Art by Inky

You’ve been stood by the cafe counter

for over ten minutes

the teapot you ordered will have to be rewarmed

as you ponder over your latest quandry

Lemon, Raspberry, Blueberry or Vanilla ?

don’t hang about – have all four!!!

Thinking

There’s a wall in the special exhibition of IWM North called lest we forget, asking peoples opinions of how we should remember the lost of two world wars – i’ve summed it up in this acrostic

The wall spoke clearly

having delivered its verdict

it was clear to those asked – the idea of

not remembering two world wars was a bad one

keep on remembering – silently whispered the opaque squares

it’s what we promised those who fell

note the date – and commemorate the lost of the

great war and the one that took place soon after

An ink explosion

#octpowrimo #ifiwereyou

opinion is a wonderful thing

but after you’ve vented your spleen

across two pages of finest vellum

re read, recollect your thoughts, and rewrite

for once you’ve stuck it in the envelope

and it’s journeyed to the news paper

a different edition of who you are

will be plastered over the letters page

and though you won’t see them

all eyes will turn on you

Salford 9th July 2018

The light little cirrus and stratus

help themselves to their

own little place in the sky

until the cloud departs they’ll be overlooked by the

great thinker of the skies himself – cumulonimbus – who’s

happily floating over the air

thinking about their next destination

some might call them Marshmallows, others call them ‘thought stores’

Memory

Salford, Tuesday 15th May

Since my last episode with my IV shunt, I’ve become more appreciative of what makes a memory

the smell of cooking of an apple pie in the oven

the sound of my favourite music 🎶 on the wireless

the feel of my iwm fleece, that I wear when volunteering

All these things meet up in the information store in my brain where those clever little neutrons in my head store them for future reference in this vast library 📚 of learning.   There’s two other sections of this library, one holds a giant encyclopaedia of facts……the semantic section, whilst the other contains a multimedia extravaganza, full of music, pictures, film, tv and photographs

now since my shunt was revised, there’s been a bit of a mess in the semantic section, and it’s sister branch the episodic section….which holds memories of events and such.  It’s not that I’ve completely forgotten about certain things, I just have to go back a few pages to remind myself of things

photographs help.  Show me a photo of a place I’d been at and I’d be able to tell you the who the where and when the photo was taken.  It’s probably the reason I’ve taken an interest in using a digital camera, for a visual cue usually triggers a memory of an event

and of course there’s the memory aids – Those colourful notebooks full of my random thoughts and scribbles.  Now i’ve set myself up on wordpress i’ll occasionally share the ramblings of what i’ve picked up in the day, but it always pays to go back to the source – even if it is to source out that chocolate cake recipe i picked up in cooking demos.

Here and Now

Salford 19th February 2018

Present

I can look back on yesterday

Ponder my actions

Examine my thoughts

Tomorrow lies ahead

but sat here in the moment

its so far away

Preparation – in a short while

for journeys to come

can ease any last minute nerves

The future can wait

till the sun rises again

when tomorrow becomes today
