Monday

Salford, April 27 2020

Where did the weekend go ?

start of a week in a time of lockdown

quarter to seven – even the resident birds are still sleeping

a new feathered friend flies past the window

he mustn’t have got the memo

Right about now

Ra is popping his head up over the horizon

painting colours on the waterside

The hour draws closer

and I can hear the rumble of traffic

of essential workers

on the busiest road in the country

occasionally stopping

for petrol or snacks

at the metro mart

Auntie beat them all to the charge

Breakfast telly started an hour ago.

Picture in Pieces (p + c – inkdrop)

Satellite imagery is wonderful technology

Landing pictures on our telly screens from far far away

Interference from Meteors, Asteroids (or even a Martian or two)

Can make the snap from the satellite look not as

Exact as you would have expected it

Directors playing jigsaw puzzles before putting it on screen

Debut

#Fowc #Debut

Salford 24th September 2019

You studied for three years for this

learning your trade from masters of the craft

reading from renown writers

and really digging in to the character of your role

Arrived at the set early

the place a hive of activity

your director goes through the script

with you and your fellow cast members

The ghosts of Olivier and Guilgud

watch in reverent observance

as make up artists prepare you

for your premiere performance

Final preparations

on location

crew checking site

for every eventuality

And as the spotlights fall

And cameras roll – under directors word

You give your immortal line –

“Do you want fries with that ?”

Bluffing

False

For a while now

a section of the press has

lacked the actual skills required to go out and

seek a newsworthy story.

even the TV News is doing it, its not just the papers

Falsehoods blur the lines

and your regular citizen cant see whats going on, as

lies are hidden , behind a fog of

supposed outrage and intregue

expect a backlash – after the damage has been done

Read all about it!

In response to the prompt
Newspaper

Now, here’s something

Everyone’s taken aback by the news today

When you go to the shop to pick up your paper – it might not be there

Some bright spark in Fleet Street would rather you use your

Personal device via “The web”.

All in a vain attempt to be one step ahead of the TV,

Press hacks aren’t happy as their work is consigned to history (and the fish shop)..

Expect a few rumbles from this idea

Reactions from those on the front page – definitely mixed
