One of my character pieces – from the pages of allpoetry.com – about the forlorn chap above…enjoy.
We all went for a picnic
in the summery wood
they went for a bit of a ramble
and so here I am stood
The picnic sat there soggy
as down came the torrid rain
and grass and plants grew round me
would I see my driver again?
Silver birch now surrounds me
Moss and lichen my new coat
Greenery now my camouflage
home for badgers and stoats

Perhaps in time, they’ll find me

and give me some release

in twenty-thirty-forty months
I’ll be a museum piece!
Hidden by all this greenery
I need a bit of luck
Now looking after the wildlife
as I wait for the pick up truck

The Little Ghosts Tale

This piece appeared in the forward poetry anthology “Darkest Before Dawn”.  Thought i’d share it here….

A little ghost came out to play
but found the children ran away
When he appeared that Hallowed Night
He wandered what gave them a fright

He’d been alone in that old spooky house,
with no one to talk to but a passing mouse
who after seeing little ghost wi a squeak
ran off quickly with an eek!

But then one night of New Years Eve,
an old black cat, were playing in leaves…
He spotted little ghosts ghostly head
and decided to play in his house instead.

And the old black cat, brought his chums too
chanting and wailing and all going BOO!
and the ghosties and ghouls all round the place
made friends with the ghost wi’ the bluish white face

So when you see trails on All Hallows Eve,
Don’t be frightened, Don’t worry, Just believe
as the ghosts have their tea at Little Ghosts Place,
the one where the host has a bluish white face.

Another boot in a window

A tale of an Old Army Boot – On display in the timeline at Imperial War Museum North in Trafford, Manchester.

Another boot in a window ?

The cobbler must be proud!

As it’s placed in a window wi uniforms

Oh, how it sings out loud.

But, dear boot is looking quite shabby,

No polish on him for a while

Old mud encrusted in his leather

Is that the latest style?

Foreign Mud – well , its hard to get rid of

and old boot here has plenty to see

but its wailing a tone – as it sits, all alone

under someone’s old uniform it be

His sole it could do with some tacking

and a new lace will do there – I’m sure

as you read of his story in th’ window

one you’ve not heard of before

He’s telling the tale of his brother –

The one , who didn’t return

So he’ll sit there in Solemn Remembrence

In the hope, you and I, we will learn.
