Stairs

#fowc #stairs

Some would say – ascending to new heights

travelling by foot between one floor and another

aiming to reach the other floor

in time for your central heating to kick in

relaxing in your cosy sitting spot and watching

snowflakes passing the bedroom window

The terrace at No3

#Octpowrimo #Cobbledstreets #England #Northern #Salford #Lancashire

A piece of poetry by inky, based on the terraced house on Lark Hill Place. A restored Victorian Street in Salford’s Museum and art gallery.

Old building by cobbles,
Oak table , and chairs
Copper kettle boiling on the stove
near to the stairs

Fruit from the Grocers,
cutup and cored,
is ready for the pie bowl
in the oven its stored

Washboard, and Dolly Tub
in Backyard unhooked
ready for washing
that’s been overlooked

And when its been cleaned
and gleaming with pride
they’ll dry on a line
on pegs hanging outside

Cut up apples in a bowl

Sweep by the cobbles

some work is his goal

so he watches the chimney

as the food cooks on coals

And today, family living here
is having them a guest,
so they’ve laid out the cutlery
and porcelain that is best.

Victorian table, set for dinner with Plates for Soup, mains and pudding.

Ascend

Adventure can be

seen anywhere in the house by little

children, as they

elevate themselves one foot at a time to

nightime stories and

delightful dreams under the watch of their teddy bears

Careful!

in response to the daily post prompt

Careful

Coming down the stairs is a terribly dangerous thing.

As you descend the steps with your oversized bag,

Reality of the situation is not if but when its going to happen

Expect tears, tantrums, and occasional cross word

Featuring in the coming conversation…

Unless that is, you split the job in two or three bits, allowing you to

Look ahead and see what’s coming – avoiding the marbles.

Chance Meeting

In response to the prompt
Fleeting

That girl with the jet black hair

caught me quite unawares

as I passed her on school hall stairs

communicating , as if in a dream

that her and I could make a team

and though I thought I had no chance

she still had hopes of a romance

And though they thought i’d run a mile

I was captured by that smile

And what caught me, most unawares?

The Fleeting glance from the top of the stairs

And what message, was that ? I began to think

as she looked back at me – she gave me a wink…
