You always wanted to be different
the other birds shook their heads at
Your topsy-turvy view of the world
but you always raised a smile
when the bottom of your seed tray appeared

You couldn’t put your finger on it,
the way this junior librarian looked her way
and you jumped right to it
Maybe it was her smile
or the way she had her hair
that captured your eye
you would share a drink at lunchtime
while the boys just stared and looked
and the cat stared from her handbag – their goose was cooked
But meeting that night – impossible
as off in the air she’d fly
leaving you down on terra firma
as she flew through the stars in sky

Unusually found the Son up before
Mum and dad
Maybe its because he
Expected the smiling sun to
Reach beyond the curtains and say hello

Perhaps it was her eyes that first attracted me
Everyone stopped – freeze frame as we met
Reaction to that wonderful smile – unabashed, but
From that day on, she seemed to be everywhere
Unusually, i couldnt see her around, was my
Memory playing tricks on me ?
Even the blossom’s sent a message of her

the atomic tangerine 🍊
dropped into the pool of
clear hot water 💦
Reactions to the spheres arrival
as it nose dived into the blue
were instantaneous….
Little children 👶 smiled away
not it in the way
it fizzed away
Like orangeade exploding
into the blue
but mostly how its scent
originally meant
for the upstairs bathroom
could be found In the kitchen too

Clues abundant – around the house
Icing sugar and poster paint all over the kitchen
and hiding away in a colourful box
A special surprise – is under the stairs.
