Making the most of that precious

opportunity, when in the field

out of the last rays of sun, just before

nightfall – Luna makes an appearance

down below her – the children skip and jig

and above them – feathered friends flap excited as

night begins to fall

children will be called in as shades of red turn dark blue, so

enjoy the time in the long grass, they will

Weather Winter

waiting on the snow

#weather

There must be something

wrong with the thermometer

for the man at the met.office

is suggesting we all

wrap up snug and warm

in the next few days

His colleagues and pals

say “its too warm for snow”

but its hiding in the clouds

while the winds are a go

waiting for a mercury drop

when on the grasses and roofs it’ll stop

So while it’s in clouds

the wildlife will stay

having their fun and playing away

till the flakes of snow land on the ground

and they head for their nests and burrows around

Aquamarine

#CYW #Aquamarine

Photo by Jill Burrow on Pexels.com

They say its the true colour of water

but by the time you’ve had your cordial added

the fruit has fizzled it away

It sets of a summer holiday perfectly

as the sun reflects its blue

and you wan’t to dip your toes

on perfect days, the sky mirrors the sea

and its like the sea begins where the sky ends

wonderful to look at from a deckchair

of course, the jeweller likes this colour

its the birthstone thats usually surrounded by diamonds

so its no wonder he likes it

or the colour of the eyes of the young lady

whos entered his shop

to purchase a ring with this precious stone

Cloud Animal

Cloud Animal – Rabbit (Image: Kendrick Mills)

They say the skies are full of animals

from Lions to Rams and Great Bears

you need a telescope

for they appear at night

but some they appear – fluffy and white

clear as day, up in the sky

around the air they fly

You can see them when you walk on the sand of the beach

just above your head – within your eyes reach

popping up to say hello

and with a brisk westerly, away they go.

Cloudy skies

A piece from inky

in response to Chris Breebart Photography page – whats in the picture?

What’s up there in the sky ?

Get past the matted marshmallow sky

And you’ll find a brilliant azure sky

Away from the clear blue

Places for the sun to play hide and seek

tree, created from orginal photo by inky

like a rocket the shoots of the tree

extended out to the sky

and as it did – the winds blew it gently to and fro

now the trees arms are nearer to the squirrels than the birds

Change

From the rooftops they moved

From one to the the other

Freely through the morning air and

Floating Marshmallow

Free as birds are to do as they please – looking for a change of scene

The last photo

#thelastphoto

Created in response to the last photo

Yeah, its strange –

two birds sharing a neighbours roof –

it could have been something else,

a shot taken in the park – or maybe by the waters of the quayside,

but then it would have been nothing more than a mere copy

of something i’d taken days , weeks or months before

a magpie and a pigeon – taking a load off

and wondering which cloud to fly into next

Staring at the Moon

#MLMM #Photochallenge

Looking up at the sky,

It didn’t seem so far away

Going about its business

Helping out the stars

To lighten up the darkness

Ingenious people – wanted to build a place there

Of course, if it were offered

Up in a rocket she would go

Staying in a home among the stars

Walk down an old street

The light dawns,

seagulls pass overhead

bluest sky beckons

shoelaces fastened

heading off down the path

following sunbeams

the path never changes

but the people passing do

walking over stone

short distances green

awaken sleepy braincells

bringing happiness

end of the distance

heading back, to where it began

ascending the stones
