Team GB winning Gold in the Cycling, Lineart created from Screenshot in PSE 20 by inky

Medals of precious medal

are the prize as the athletes

dart around the track on their cycle relay

in search of the top three positions

some say bronze and silver are runners up –

of course everyone wants gold…..in reality

no one wants to be fourth

Magic Money Tree

Money Tree

A little lad

threw a pound coin

down into rich brown soil

his dad sat watching smiling

as the lad he worked and toiled

But one day, in the summer

to everyone’s surprise

a stalk of silver colour

started to arise

and when the plant did flower

to the little lads glee

Blue and Orange and Purple Flowers

looked like Mum and dads money

Now the family kept it a secret

in case others paid garden a view

for the PM said there’s no money tree

apart from this one – they said – it’s new

Rituals

Three states of chocolate…..

a sweet piece by inky

You stood in the newsagent
observing the aisles
like an aztec worshipper
in front of a chocolate altar
Armed with your golden coins
you lifted up the chosen bar
and waited to pay at the till
The foil shone under the lamps
as you caught a sly smell
the waiting would be worth it
Golden coin for for chocolate heaven
now rubbing the bar , releasing that smell
as you take your time, with each square
A brisk Snap, an expectation
A scent of flavour, a delactation
A chocolate piece melts, a taste sensation

Water reflecting sunlight, Image by SC Vincent

Should any foolhardy person want to go treasure hunting

it’s not the treasure horde of a

long lost pirate down in that water

view you see is merely Ra peering at himself in a mirror

even if you went down into the depths

reflections would evaporate….and you would only be saying Hi to fish.

Oulipo – part deux

Salford 16th May 2020

Following on from yesterday’s oulipo here’s my go of an Oulipo based on Walter de la mare’s poem – Silver

Here’s my take :-

Slowly silently now the moose

walks the nightmare in his simian shoon

this way and that he peers and sees

Simian fry upon simian tremeloes

One by one the cashiers catch

his bearskins beneath the silvery thegn

Couched in his Kernel, like a logjam

with paybeds of simian sleeps the dogfish

From their shaky cotton the white britches peep

of downs in simian fed sleep

a heap mouthpiece goes scampering by

with simian claws and simian eye

and moveless fishmongers in watercolour dream

in simian reels in simian streams

Sunset over Alykanas

I watched
with my feet still sat in wet sand
as the evening skies faded
like a fire in outer space
day turned slowly into night
and silver fish still circled
as a central point of
fire and ice
waited for the many moons
in the grecian sky to settle in their spots
like diamonds in the sky

The colour seeped out of the image

as the dial on the camera was turned

in seconds, pastel colours turned into shades of grey

as the metallic silver objects shined

Some say they prefer it to Gold

it’s the way the

light falls on it you see

venerated by wise men and pirates alike

everyone knows – this precious metal – is secure in its place

revered by every smith that works it and every miner that hews it from the ground

Colour of the crown

Crown.jpg

#Coloryourworld #cyw #royalpurple

Perched on her majesty’s head

Under the frame of silver and jewel

Royal colour emits from the crown

Perhaps – it denotes her status – as head of her church

Like priests and bishops wear the colour in spring at mass in parishes up and down

England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales

Fortune (acrostic)

Fortune

For as long as prospectors keep talking

Oregon’s wagon trail has attracted people far and wide

Round the wild valleys they roam

Trekking around the carved out valleys for

Unforetold riches from the Horde of Coins

Navigating the challenging terrain can be difficult

Enjoy your quest – but expect trouble along the gold scattered route.
