What’s behind the door?

#writeclub

Stuff.….

Stuff you stored away for a rainy day

Stuff with its own character

Stuff that’s lived a life

That thinggummy-bob

that you spent an arm and a leg

for that oh-so crucial job

now resting by a desk

a desk laiden with boxes and tins

holding chips and sprockets, nuts and bolts

an electronic graveyard

awaiting to come to life given the right battery

a place where hand held space invaders

was all the rage, and

Medium Wave played tunes and not static

on your Radio

Books lined up on a shelf gather dust,

with the arrival of an Ipad

While Childhood Friends,

Trinkets and pennants share space

in their own private zoo

in a box in the corner

beyond the door

The treasure room

#socs #where

the possessions have spouted legs again

they were secure in your hold

the other day

but that was before

you were jiving away

happy as anything – to the latest swing

your bag keeping tight – all your bling

but being ignored – they walked from the scene

and having spotted the loss – you turned green

but do not fear – wipe away those tears

after you left thru door – cleaners took the floor

finding things – in the post-event gloom

and storing them all in a very strong room

Hilltop House

#Promptuarium #Hilltophouse

You could definately call it – a “Room with a View”

from the top of the house – you could see for miles away

be able to converse with the swallows and skylarks

en-suite facilities – hardly mod cons – but you have toilet and coal fire

your only problems – climbing up all those stairs to bed

and come breakfast time, your egg on toast will need heating up

Collect

#socs #collect

items around a room – connect

common nik naks from different spaces

different things the people collect

treated with the upmost respect

on shelves the nik nak presence graces

as others pass and then inspect

and on the shelf – the humble object

with others are cleaned in their places

should elders eyes turn at them and reject

Ghostly

Appearances in a darkened room
can be deceptive to the naked eye

Old Cats, (and sometimes bats)
fly through an old house (in search of a mouse)

At night, in the light, of a midnight moon
it’s not only Owls that fly

So don’t take flight – when something white
suddenly shows up, at night.

(It’s only the old owner, passing by.)
