Water reflecting sunlight, Image by SC Vincent

Should any foolhardy person want to go treasure hunting

it’s not the treasure horde of a

long lost pirate down in that water

view you see is merely Ra peering at himself in a mirror

even if you went down into the depths

reflections would evaporate….and you would only be saying Hi to fish.

Acrostic Poetry

Salford, 4th June 2017

Days have passed

in the air i hear the sounds of cheering

someone is making the children smile

tonight – we don’t forget – we carry on and remember

and defy the eedjits who thought bringing tears to our streets would change things

never forget – we’re the hearts that make our

county tick – keep on laughing, keep on smiling

embrace every second – enjoy every minute

You could almost mistake them for the real thing

confused Canada geese try to eat them as an appetiser before lunch

they seem to float gently on the waters edge

easy pickings for our feathered friends

Bubbles arise from deep below

but clever fish they do not show

as anglers sit along canal bank

the hiding oxygenator fish have to thank

but with one move of a beak

illusions are shattered –

disappearing in ripples

across the water

In response to the prompt Mirror

The Lowry, Salford Quays

Look out onto the waters edge

What can you see?

projected by the neon lights

reflections of a building or three

lights they cast across the deep

painting across the bay

a mirror of what’s there on land

brightening waters till day

Places Poetry

A poem inspired by reflections on the water…by me

Out at Sea
boats reflections
mirror their owners

Ripples casting
on the waters edge
cut through painted puddles

Colours of the evening
seem to move much quicker
across the waters edge

Rainbows differ upon Sunset
as night paints with darker colour
and light disappates

Water the perfect canvas
Capturing those fired colours
as the sun goes down
