Changing colours

#Seasons #Autumn #Poetry #Nature

Acer’s changing colour scheme (Image by Inky, Camera: Sony H3311)

A Sign that winters on the way

Up in the trees, the leaves colours are changing

There hangin’ on to their branches for dear life but

Unless you haven’t noticed – greens have been swapped for

Mostly Reds and Browns, with yellows inbetween

Note though – occasional splashes of crimson – Christmas coming early ?

A colourful triolet

A triolet, written by inky as part of a writing exercise

This band of colour

of various tones

It’s spectrum seems much fuller

this band of colour

Reds are rampant, Blues much buller

in its wavelength of zones

This band of colour

of various tones

Lightness

#Octpowrimo #Lightness

Salford, 29th October 2019

As summer draws to a close

and green leaves turn to red

the leaves of the less evergreen

aided by wind rain and streams

float off in a dream, light as a feather

to their final resting spot

where they leave a mark of colour

on the paths around them

Brick Red

Peel Building, University of Salford drawn up in Painter Essentials by Inky, from photograph - example of red brick building

Salford 28th August 2019

#cyw #brickred #salford

I remember those streets,

the houses and walls

constructed from something

from down in the ground

Fired earth formed into an oblong

and fashioned into spaces

places, to cook, wash, read, and rest

for those living there – the best

And they were Not all uniform –

not all the same shade

some hidden round airbricks

the ones that just made grade

But from down the road

Their colours stood proud

as this orange / brick red

sang through northern streets loud

Waiting for the flowers

Salford, 9th March 2019

A patch of earth on some barren land

Was turned over, fed and watered

Earth dug up in places on

Seeds or bulbs planted

Over the next few months, the process continued – and

Moments passed – until the arrival of a green leaf popping out of the ground

Expect rainbows of colour over the next few weeks.

Stained Glass Window

Salford 18th September

Poem borrowed from my page at Allpoetry.com

A tale a bit crafty, a bit religious, but all by me

Artwork created at Craft Sessions at Brain & Spinal Injury Charity in Salford.

As the Sun comes up,

its light shines through

the panels of coloured glass

angling the now coloured light

painting a picture,

of scenes on a floor

And as the sun shines,

through that brightly coloured window

reds cast with yellows

and greens cast with blues

as molten lead holds on tightly,

keeping the picture alive

Scarlet

#coloryourworld #cyw #Scarlet

She caught my view, in the Cretan sunshine

Casting a watchful eye over the fruits of the island

As our gazes met briefly, we smiled at one-another

Reacting to a momentary attraction

Long haired red head, with eyes of green

Enchanting young lady – with chance to meet at

The next mornings breakfast

Radical Red

Revolutionary

an idea – that a colour could influence a change

democratic principles

inked out in radical shades of red

could it be the passions of those men and women wearing it

all across the land, that displays its colour

loud and proud ? Up and down the land ?

Razzamatazz

#Coloryourworld #cyw #colors #pinks #reds #razzamatazz

Raspberry donuts – that’s what reminds me of you

A right zesty colour, bursting with notes of

Sharp pink and red – but unlike your strawberry cousin, notes of

Purple, which sing out in the pudding bowl

Best in a jam. in a pudding or ice cream, some will

Even eat it in a yogurt

Real connoisseurs eat you tween almond sponge and base in a

Right royal bakewell tart, but notes are played

Year on year when you’re served up on toast in jam

razzmatazz

Reactions to your

Appearance in gardens – are amazing – flying insects

Zipping around the garden for a chance to grab your

Zesty Nectar

Maybe its your fragrance and colour you relase

As they circle and glide around your petals

To get to that tasty nectar

Aiming sharp towards the target

Zoned towards the prize

Zipping into your flower head for their reward
