Bombastic

#fowc #bombastic

A bit like a champion boxer

the businessman turned politician entered the ring

could you call it bravado ? possibly

could you call it unplanned ? definitately

pompously ill-mouthing his opponents at the despatch box while

ignoring his own advisers like nero fiddling

perhaps his own inflated self-esteem

would protect him from any fateful fall

those behind him are just waiting

for the balloon to burst – in spectacular fashion

belligerent

#fowc #belligerent

Statesmen like ? hardly

sat by his plinth, like

someone had confiscated his toy basket

all they wanted, was the facts

all they got was bluster to the max

as the virus spreaded, and reacts

reports he wasn’t listening to

positions he stuck himself like glue

his collegues wandering what to do ?

Till one day he took to bed,

and had to listen to what the doctors said,

deputy took charge, and up to bed, he fled.

Notable

Salford, 27th April 2018

In response to the DP Prompt Notable

Nobody could miss the headline of the redtops

big brash and bold – and splashed liberally across the front page

A headline to shock – “EXCLUSIVE” and “SCOOP”

in bold capitals

everyone read the news underneath

till it was proven the day later – it was all a fabrication

politicians calling for editors heads , celebs joining in the circus

reporters not at their desks, hiding from the limelight

photographers seeking solace by a sunny retreat

the apology was notable – issued two days later

short and hidden on a column on Page 4
