Rocket

#Fowc #Rocket

A bit of a slow burner i think you would call it

The engines went into thrust, leaving clouds in its wake

On board little tiny robots – off to explore that far off planet

Cloud formations forming behind it

Rising up through the blue

for destination coloured orange

Brush

#SoCS #Brush

Stream of Consciousness Saturday Banner

Bringing a touch of colour to the paper

Reds through to violet as it passes through the brilliant white

Upmost care taken – not to cross any of the bands

Should they seep into the colour next door

Hairs of the brush given a good soak after the artwork’s complete

Jostle

Salford, 15th August

It’s crazy days

In a time of a virulent bug

Increases in the mercury and

Isolation for many – It’s

Indescribable how

Individuals can ram themselves

Into carriages of an LRT

In a quest to get to their destination

If they were thinking – they might see the measures

It’s keeping them away from catching the bug

Parcel of fun

#food #curry #pastie #FDDA

To some

its a heavenly dish

kept wrapped up in its pastry parcel

king of the curries (created by the british)

arm yourself though – the recipes vary

Made the same way of the days of empire

a meat is spiced in a number of spices and

rolled around in a sauce of tomatoes, spices and cream

some might say – its not spicy enough, but

as it was devised for those with a delicate pallette

lots of people enjoy it as a main meal or teatime snack

as its not as fiery as its madras or vindaloo cousins

Bring on the puddings!

#FDDA #Sweet #Sponge #Puddings

I do like a sponge pudding

coming to life in the oven

covered in fruity delights

sweet soft pillows of loveliness

and that’s before you get to the custard!

Popcorn Plant

#Writeclub #Popcorn

popcorn plant (illustration by inky)

Confusion reigned among the staff
in the garden centre
Curiously, the conkers they were growing
for selling in pots in the greenhouse
had grown, no sprouted….no rocketed
into something a little more colourful
a little more knobbly and a little more exotic
a lot more tropical and a little less green
i mean – leaves the colours of mixed fruit drops ?
and poking through the glass towards the sky
you couldn’t call them unseen – definately unmuted
as the kids visited every blossom time
picking off popcorn from the branches and petals

When things grow legs

A poem on irritation by inky

A rant on Flat Pack Furniture

I

The planning was meticulous

you bought it from the store

the storage unit of your dreams

that gave space and so much more

It came with an Allen Key

II

Into the empty room you stood

and looked at the jigsaw bits

no standard screws for this job

you have to use what fits

Clue…it came with an Allen Key

III

So you start with pre assembly

wood dowels at each end of the planks

another piece of the puzzle

you are grateful and give thanks

No need for an Allen Key

III

But then the magma bubbles

as you’re looking in the sealed bag of screws

there’s something that you need right now

and you can’t come to terms with the news

Where’s the Allen Key?

IV

It seems that the item needed to fix part A to B

has grown itself some handy wings and decided to flee

what’s annoying is that others you would use instead

do not fit the holes drilled in the screw head.

SO….WHERES THE ALLEN KEY ?

V

Modern day furniture – “so easy to handle”

burning both ends of your patience’s candle

so you hammer the screws to the holes there in three

and sit down and enjoy a hot , sweetened tea.

Fantasy Island

#Writephoto #Fantasy

For years that place in the middle of the sea was

a folly, a place for the well to do’s to admire from their

nice windows of the lakeside apartments

today, its so much more than this – it’s

a place where your imagination can go mad

somewhere you can land your boat and pitch a tent

you’ll think you’re back to your schooldays – some say its better

Check…List

#Socs #Check #Cheque

Could they be considered an antique ?

heavy paper saved by plastic

even the kids are using cards today…

cashless society seems to be happening

King cashpoint is worried

Cheque books kept – for those “Special items”

held in value and status

everyone knows that you’re buying a sofa

cheque has to be written – thats why they’re

kept

Matters of persuasion

were easy for Mrs Polar Bear

But on this occasion

No matter how hard she tried

the seal wouldn’t come out

of the larder

“Sorry Kids….its Fish for tea again!”
