Melon

#CYW #Melon

Maybe its me – but I always

expected the colour of a melon would be darker than the one

like you find in your box of crayons – its innards more red than pink

of course, buy a honeydew it’s as yellow as the sun

nice sliced up – they’re sweet regardless of which one you choose

Magenta II

The spot on the rainbow where red meets blue

you could call it “purple” – but it’s lighter than that

some would say its got a much vibrant tone

the girls love it – it’s got more to it than your average “pink”

so clothes , cars and anything else with this colour

sticks out for miles.

Hot Magenta

#CYW #HotMagenta

Salford Street sign – in Hot Magenta

Its not what you’d call a subtle colour

and it couldn’t be called pink or purple

a fiery marriage where red meets blue

but mother nature seems to like

using their off spring to bring a bit

of eye catching colour to the garden

look around you’ll see it every where else too

in signs, on walls and in windows

the future’s bright – the future’s …. Magenta

Fuschia

#CYW #Fuschia

watercolour from stock art of fuschias

Floating in the warmth of summer

under their pink ballerina dresses – purple petticoats

swaying in the gentle breeze

colour to brighten up anyone’s day

hard to miss – even though they try to be

incognito

a wonder for visiting birds and bees

Cerise

Cherry red they call it – taken from the french

except there are times you can’t call it

red – not in the traditional sense

its more pink than that

shade stronger than your average strawberry (even in ice cream)

each shade seems different, but so then are cherries on the tree

Pink Carnation

A Pink Carnation (Image : Brian F Kirkham)

#CYW #Carnation-Pink

Popping up around the spring

its the kind of flower that likes a party

noted for its use as a buttonhole flower

keeping up appearances at family occasions

Curves more wiggly than your

average rose

rows upon rows keep each other standing up,

not falling over

at the nearest breath of wind.

they don’t look much, but once trimmed and located

in a gentleman’s suit buttonhole

on a family occasion, they

never fail to impress the guests

Ballerinas

Salford 12th September 2019

Ballerinas : Painting by Inky using Painter Essentials 6

They woke up one spring morning,
at the light of the sun
Bobbing around in a gentle breeze
their dancing – just begun

Over the long grass and daisies they dropped
as their coloured dresses flipped and flopped
and as they danced round in the wind
the daisies waited for the breeze to recind

Duetting with the dandelions
as their seed just flew away
wondering who – apart from the wind
that they would like to play

Pink and purple parading in pairs
above a daisy covered shower
among the blades of fresh green grass
a wonderful coloured flower

Bargain

#Fowc #Bargain

If it’s what you’re after

its the deal of the day

you’re keeping half the price

in your little pink purse

for getting to wear all

of that little black dress

Brambles

Born on a spikey berry bush

Purple / pink fruit bursting with flavour

bursting with juice – pressed to the touch

cooked down in a pan – to a tasty mush

turned into jelly – a taste to savour

spread over bread – or sometimes toast

kids enjoy the tastes so much

Breakfast time they enjoy them the most

Blossoms

Salford, 25th March

Spring has definitely sprung

The rock gardens resident birds

Announced it…the acer is in bloom they chirped

Rejoicing at the sight of little pink buds

They don’t look much at the minute but

Eventually, the wind will stop moving the branches and the

Red and pink blossoms will start to appear
