Near and Far

Near and Far

How Near to where i am would i want to go ?

The Local Park Perhaps ?

The Local Art Gallery ?

Off to the Lakes perhaps?

Or a remote sandy beach, someplace sunny and warm?

A Place where writing implements go to sleep

Hewn from the finest tree trunks

a place where the little apes

transfer their thoughts using pencil to paper

some use pen, some use paper

some use crayon, and some use colour

words and pictures cascade on the page

and then when finished, they return their tools

to a nice spot on the corner of the tree trunk

some might need a hair cut, for the next time they’re used

but for now, they sleep, dreaming of a rainbow of colours

Pattern Created by Inky

Pictures positioned in such

a way , they replicate

themselves. Travelling from east

to west across the page creating designs

everyone can enjoy

rolls of colour to be enjoyed, on curtains, cushions or quilts

night and day throughout the home

Picture in Pieces (p + c – inkdrop)

Satellite imagery is wonderful technology

Landing pictures on our telly screens from far far away

Interference from Meteors, Asteroids (or even a Martian or two)

Can make the snap from the satellite look not as

Exact as you would have expected it

Directors playing jigsaw puzzles before putting it on screen

Gremlins in the Machine

Gremlins

Salford, 23rd November 2017

Gremlin n. a cause of unexplained malfunction

ever get one of those days when nothing goes right ?

Thursday evening – and i’m going through the snaps i took with the D3100 the other day.DSC_0120.JPG

Now take a look, this is how my dear computer judges what my camera thinks my outside lawn looks like.  It could be it was fooled by the Manchester weather, and in its defence it was throwing down stairrods when i took the pic.  But then again, i have been confined to the house the last few days – thanks to a bug i picked up (don’t worry – the cold remedy has worked)

Now before it throws another strop – here’s evidence for the prosecution – it worked perfectly well when i was doing my black and white shots in the kitchen.

Kettle

and it liked the pics of the spoons

Silverspoons

It even liked the black and white shot i took of the Coffee, Sugar and Tea Jugs

Coffeeteasugar

So i’m starting to think – my poor old camera has caught a cold (sic)

Or that the gremlin that lives on my computer (hereby known as the update wizard) has attacked my computers ability to work out colour!

Paint the day with colour

Take up your brush
and paint the sky
a brilliant pastel blue.

Add in a warm yellow sun
and fluffy white clouds too,
add in a horizon – a building or two!

Colour your seas an aqua blue
and if you want , or if you wish
add some big silvery fish

On your shoreline add to reds
to the sandy rocks by the bed
Add a boat green that’s painted bright
and a lighthouse that’s painted white.

Not forgetting those men with the nets
wearing bright yellow – you cannot forget.
Shadows of seagulls, in the distance black,
as nets pull full nets to the harbour back.

BASIC Photography

Through a Lens

DSC00368.JPG

This weeks photography class at BASIC in Salford, involved taking photographs through an object.  The scenes were placed behind a Glass Ball and the pictures were shot through the ball.

DSC00352.JPG

The images obscured depending on the angle of the shots taken.  The Miniature image captured through the sphere a copy of the picture behind it.

DSC00372.JPG

Scenes Captured in a Ball – The technique produced some lovely effects

DSC00371.JPG

The idea was you didn’t concentrate on the image behind it – just the image in the ball!

The session produced some great pictures, and i really enjoyed creating the images i did with my camera.

Story Telling

A silver medal winning piece on telling stories

Words on a page
are like keys to a door
opening to a vision

I want to gallop
cross moor and fields
in the light of the morning sun

I want to be a detective
solving mysteries
and do it all before lunch
and perhaps after tea

I want to be the leader of men
or wolves or dwarves or trolls
and go on an adventure
and see where fate it rolls

Some they call them fairy tales
but you know – it never fails
that upon hearing tales of this kind
it sparks new visions in the mind

Mosaic

Made in Grecian lands, many years ago

Ordered Tessellations form pictures on the floor

Square tiles of differing colour

Anchored in time to the ground

Inspired by tales of heroes and

Crafted by true artisans
