Off on a Walk

#Christmas #Dog #Walk

Photo by Artem Beliaikin on Pexels.com

Cooped up inside

He tried his best to enjoy the festivities

Reality is – despite playing with all his toys

Indoors isn’t where he wanted to be

So, he persuaded his owner

To take him for a walk over the

Mossy greens of the local park where

A host of trees and twigs will be played with – on return

Sausages will be found in his bowl – Late gift from Santa Paws!

Tempting

#Fowc #Tempting

You’ve tried all year to keep that seaside bod

but now from festive cheer

the toned physique you flaunted at summer

is attacked with wine and beer

there’s every kind of cake and pudding

inside that cupboard of yours

and biscuits, cake and gingerbread men

to bite and chomp and gnaw

The Christmas feasts – Ginormous

with three kinds of festive meats

five kinds of seasonal vegetable

and other kinds of treat

So when christmas dinner is over

and you’ve had your festive fun

it’ll be time to take a walk in the park

or perhaps – go for a run ?

Restin’

Its hard to fathom

how these children of the scots pine

found their way on a bench by a northern harbour

their relatives happy to see them

still hanging around on their own tree

they’ve been hard at work

scattering their seed across the parks and greens

but now they need a break

so they’ll take five

on the bench they rest upon

before travelling on the breeze

Clever Doggie

#WDYS

Clever Dog (Image : Charles Deluvio)

They say dogs are cleverer than cats

but this one stands tall among the rest

despite the fact he’s rather small

he drives the other dogs bats

for he can skateboard, paint and take on the best

running his opponents for a bone

and while other dogs hit the wall

he’ll take the prize without a moan

Near and Far

View from my window

Near and Far

How Near to where i am would i want to go ?

The Local Park Perhaps ?

The Local Art Gallery ?

Off to the Lakes perhaps?

Or a remote sandy beach, someplace sunny and warm?

Bandstand

#writephoto #bandstand

Built in the park

a place to be entertained

new music to be played and maybe

danced to if the urge is there

sandwiches consumed by the audience as

the band play those oh so familiar tunes

a selection of favourites

new and old, to be

danced on the plaza nearby

Through the Garden Gate II

#Promptuarium

wondering over terracotta tiles

passing scents of geraniums and delphinums

trees of deciduous and conifer lining the way

till you reach the wooden door

not as you think – the end of the walk

merely the beginning – as a path twists and turns

passing through woodland and flowery borders

sounds of birdsong and wildlife round every corner

Walk down an old street

The light dawns,

seagulls pass overhead

bluest sky beckons

shoelaces fastened

heading off down the path

following sunbeams

the path never changes

but the people passing do

walking over stone

short distances green

awaken sleepy braincells

bringing happiness

end of the distance

heading back, to where it began

ascending the stones

Dinosaur

#Napowrimo #writephoto

Dinosaur in the park

Down amongst the long grasses

is a special kind of beast

now you may at first thought think- “He’s extinct”

on the west coast to the east

some might think it a little odd

about our prehistoric friend who on his tod,

unexpected – are the kids at play – who have fun with ‘red’

round our way

Labyrinth

#fowc #labyrinth

Losing your mind

as you travel its paths

breadcrumbs won’t help you here

you’ll need something a little bit sturdier as you make your way

round the puzzle

if you manage to get to the centre

next thing you’ll need to do is to make your way out

that will take a while – of course

help always comes from a helpful park ranger
