Ordsall Park Motif

Salford, 10th May 2018

With the appearence of what seemed to be the slight raise in the mercury, i decided to walk down toward the local park and take a couple of snaps with my trusty Nikon D3100

Spot to Rest

A fruity San-San

The latest challenge from the boys and girls at Napowrimo.net as part of my ongoing task to write a poem a day was to write a san-san

The challenge is here for anybody who wants to take it up : http://www.napowrimo.net/day-fourteen-3/

The rhyming follows a pattern of a-b-c-a-b-d-c-d

So, inspired by the nearby Tudor gardens at Ordsall Hall in Salford, here’s my latest effort –

Fruit Tree

Growing against a Tudor brick wall,

old fruit ripens for the pie

coming from the tree but once a season

upon the cooks demand do they fall

over the skies the crows do fly

could this be why they are picked with haste?

there could be no other plausible reason

but to deprive the feathered friends from a taste

Cutout Art = Ordsall Park, Salford (c) Brian F Kirkham

This work originally appeared in the Community Newspaper – Ordsall Undercover.

A piece of poetry written on the park down the road by my home – enjoy.

As wheels pass on by the concrete forms,
the trees stand tall on the islands of green
basking in the warm midday sun.
Feathered friends pass on by,
as the trees reach up high
and branches sway in the breeze
as the wind cools the air
by a couple of degrees.

On the Square of Green are the veterans
with their woods and their jack,
Playing their bowls,
in defence or attack
Children make their way back home
its gone half past three
as they run through the park
on the way for their tea.
