Last Glow

Last Glow of a Spring night (Image: B.F Kirkham)

Salford 24th May 2020

Spring is making a path for Summer

passing a baton to warmer times and

rallying the last bit of light from the evening

it may be late – but the moon hasn’t shown in

northern skies just yet – the sun is

glowing just enough to keep a blueness in the sky

The Moon, Sky, Stars and Sea

Salford 27th April 2020

#Napowrimo #writeclub #Dreams #Metaphor

The moon is a bright shiny Ten Pence piece

The sky is a furry dark blanket

The stars are little sequins reflecting on that blanket

The sea is a vast mirror, reflecting whats above

The Moon is a beacon for space travelling mice

The sky is the map they use to travel about

The stars are the destinations on that map

The sea the place they hide their spaceship

The moon lights up the sky at night

The sky keeps a kite up in flight

The stars play with the new thing in the sky

The sea watches on, and moves on by

LED Lighting – Outside the house (Image BF Kirkham)

It’s not as if an alien were

looking for a landing spot or

leading lights of theatre were performing outside

under portable stage lighting –

moon looks on in awe – as halogen lighting casts

instant brightness down the street

night time glow falls over housing

as orbs of light create silhouettes and shadow

the sky seems brighter somehow

its like the brightness has hidden all the stars

overhead – outside, some place there’s satellites flying

note though – with all the light – you can’t see them

Fairy lights

4th July 2018

A piece of poetry from inky’s mass of notebooks, with a nod and a wink to the #promptuarium

Scattered like diamonds on black velvet

the sky sparkles like precious cargo

arrays of colours transmitted from light years away

really catching the eye in the way each ‘jewel’ twinkles

some would say – its taken time getting here – but to others – its instantaneous

Poetry Seasons Weather Winter

Winters night

you could call it crisp

its definitely dark

stars in the sky night twinkle and spark

out in the distant carpet called space

each cluster of stars don’t seem out of place

and standing like statues,

they watch as snow falls

creating their flurries that land soft but tall

Enjoying the Christmas Lights

Salford 23rd December 2017

DSC_0248.JPG

Christmas festivities have been going on a pace this week, and as a typical Salfordian Male – i made the error of letting it wash all over me till This week

Strange as it may seem though – i’ve covered everybody’s christmas presents (even dad’s)

The Nephew’s will be getting their Merlin Passes renewed – the largest purchase – and i’ll leave that till after boxing day

Mum and Little Blister have their chrimbo pressies sorted as have Dad and B-I-L but i’m not bringing up what i’ve bought them less they read this blog.

Will no doubt be meeting up with Uncles and Aunties over christmas – and purchases will be made post boxing day and delivered in the run up to new year

DSC_0272.JPG

Happy Christmas everyone…..If it seems i’ve gone ‘off grid’  for the next few days – its because i have….this bear will be hibernating….love christmas….cant stand the cold!

Deep Space (Darkness)

#coloryourworld #cyw #black #space

During the night

as the earth turns

the sky turns black

distant stars

appear as mere pin-pricks

in a velvet sky

whilst the other half is at work and play

the half cast in midnight

sleeps soundly away

Moon

moon

In response to Moon

It shines bright

with its light

at Night

Man in the Moon

Looks down on the earth

Shining down brightly

on the place of our birth

With two pools for eyes

a nose and a smile

the full moon always

makes me ponder a while

Heavens Above!

A piece of found poetry – using sources from that well known typing error

Mr Spike Milligna! Hope you enjoy the read

Heavens Above

In time – the sodium lamps fade,

like a fire out in the reaches of space

up in the night sky.

A central point of fire and ice

waits – as a thousand moons melt down

forming diamonds in the sky

Heavens children are busy –

playing in the midnight air

playing in constellation.
