Cadet Blue

Colour created for the young cadets

As some call it blue, others call it grey

Definitely a colour of the sea

Each new recruit wears the colour

To identify their rank on board ship

Message in a bottle – 2

Salford, 21st July 2017

Remember that piece I wrote about the message washed up in a bottle ?  I’ve given it a little thought and wrote what might have been on that rolled up paper!

Messageinbottle

Sat, as I am
on this deserted isle

I’m sending this message
to make someone smile

Being stuck on this island
isn’t much fun

even though theres blue skies
and lots of sun

so I’ve drawn you a map
and hope you might see

to send out a crew
to rescue me!

Colour of the trainee seaman

At every port or navy barracks up and down the land

Dedicated to the task in hand

Each ready to do their duty

To keep their ship in working order – and ready for action

Navy ?

A Nautical colour

Very respected as the colour of the senior service

Yachts to Dreadnoughts – are adorned in it

North to South – Compass bearings

Are used to navigate

Vessels through dangerous waters –

Yomping through ice and hiding from the enemy

Naval Company Colours

Anchored off the shoreline are

Very Dark in Colour – when not in camouflage

Yet Revered by all who wear it.

Note, however though all men on ship wear the colour

An officer, wears slightly darker

Verifying his rank on the vessel

Year upon Year

Dazzle

Hey! Over Here! Yeah, man its me!
I’m hiding, in plain sight, out here in the sea.
A product of Her Majesty’s Royal Navy
(but one you can’t spot – on that we’ll agree)

I’ll hide to protect you,
by day or by night.
With my dazzling colours i’ll avoid a fight.
Coloured like sea, so when the sun is so bright
the enemy spotters wont see me right.

And up on my decks, observe the ranks –
Jungle coloured RVs and Desert coloured Tanks
Hiding away, and really hard to see
Ready for missions against the enemy.

But its not just us hiding – take a look in the air,
and catch a glimpse of our flying friends if you care.
You may catch a sight of their trails in the sky,
but by the time you have noticed – they’ve passed you by.

So all keep your eyes peeled,
and don’t let them veer
One Minute I’ll be there,
Then the next – Disappear!
