Trouble at Mill

#SoCs #More

When the ink was dried

and the handshakes made

and the union flag handed back

they thought their troubles were over

Occasional flits across the Sea

brought a change to those

who weeks earlier screamed

they wanted their country back

While those looking after the coinage

Kept it in the nations piggybank

whilst the rest of us wondered

why we kept it there at all

Rich in their seaboats, wondering round

Riley’s life abound

while in the cold and dark around

a poor man’s being crowned

And as they come out of their dream

what the rest see….seems obscene

so they take to the streets – with a verbal attack

for the mirrors and tv’s – don’t answer back

Water reflecting sunlight, Image by SC Vincent

Should any foolhardy person want to go treasure hunting

it’s not the treasure horde of a

long lost pirate down in that water

view you see is merely Ra peering at himself in a mirror

even if you went down into the depths

reflections would evaporate….and you would only be saying Hi to fish.

Don’t need the sea or the moon

to see this colour

Its there when I look in the mirror at me

Mirror Man

#FFFC #Mirror #Man

Manchester, 7th October 2019

A tale of a street performer, inspired by Fandango’s Picture in the Flash Fiction Challenge

He Stands on his spot,

on the grass in the square,

doing his thing

while the others stare.

Today it is sunny,

so today – there’s a crowd

with his occasional movement

they cheer out loud

Sometimes a bird might land on his head

hoping for the chance that they might be fed

So inside his pocket – should there be a need

he has a small bag, of bird food or seeds

Little girl passing, trying to be brave

mirror man turns and gives her a wave

and watches others, as he gives them the time

in amusing but wordless performance in mime.

Reflection

#fowc #reflection

Who’s that looking at you

As the image looks back

The image seems familiar

Except of course when

Ripples move across the way

My My! who is that, I call out

Inspecting the visage needing the

Razors attention in the morning

Ripples occur in the sink as the blades go in and

Out of the warm water

Razor cut hairs floating on the surface

what’s on the wall ?

Wall to Wall

Salford, 10th July 2017

theres one side of my bedroom that has become my own private gallery.

mickey mouse meets mountainous hills

one wall, contains a print of a local salford artist, joe Coffey…the connection tween the artist and myself ? We went to school together.  I went to one of his shows at the community art gallery in Langworthy…a short distance from where I live .  We had a brief reunion  whilst I saw his works and I picked up a signed print to help an old mate out.

the pic … tranquility…. is of the irwell and one of the green areas (possibly peel park) that it runs alongside

i picked up the next pic as I picked up some bedroom shelves in Warrington.  It’s a print of a Walt Disney cartoon…black and white…vanilla washed….mickey mouse and his dog Pluto, it raises a smile when friends come round.

The third pic…isn’t really a pic…it’s a mirror…but it’s embossed with a favourite character of mine…that bouncy friend of Winnie the Pooh…Tigger….I look at him as my reflection comes back….art with a dual purpose.

a picture of a mountain side by the artist c.todd overlooks the place I’m currently writing at.  And this is a real painting.  I picked it up from a craft fair in one of the local towns, and is of a mountainside, could be the Lake District, could be the peaks…could even be Japan..i like the colours that run through it
