New Year, New Day

The first post of 2021.

New year in colour – Big Ben at Midnight, splash of colour by inky

I

The hour past

The bells chimed

One year confined to the history books

One year to look forward to

II

Late Nights

Laced with wine, food, drinking and song

Leads to a long nap under the duvet

Lying in on the downward strait to twelth night

III

Promises made – Resolutions

in changing and interesting times

enjoying a feast at the first day of the year, while

some prepare, to head out for bargains

Moonlight

Moonlight brings a spot of colour to nightime

it brings a touch of blue to a

dreamy scene…highlighting the

number of marshmallow clouds floating

in the sky around the moon

gravitating tween the moon and her reflection in the

half-light dispersed by the water of

the lake below

New Years Day

Midnight….Happy New Year!

The final night of 2018

Draws in a brand new year

Called out from the east

And working it’s way round the globe

The fireworks and chimes

Bring in a new dawn

Fresh thinking , fresh plans

Across the lands, grow as the sun says hi

As the new wind blows, to the new year say hello

As we wave the old one goodbye

Midnight Blue

Maybe its the colour of the night sky itself

Its only when the sun goes to bed – does it appear

Dozens , no thousands of stars peppering the dark blue

Night after Night, showing planets and constellations

Inky coloured skies, occasionally diffused by sodium lights below

Great gods from Aries to Orion , telling tales in the sky

Heavens Above! It’s a great sight to watch

The constellations moving in the night sky.

Puddytat

img_0039Many hear the call of the night

as a furry old cat, presses paws to the floor

travelling the neighbourhood for prey

as the moon comes out of clouds, shining bright

Night-time, the right time to hunt out for more

with mice on the hunt for a midnight feast

watch out, little mouse! and quickly make way

for fear you become supper for this furry tailed beast.

Dark and Light

Darkness

Satellite in the earths sky
lights up the darkness
as one half swaps the sun with the other
casting its shimmering net over the water
And out of the darkness
from behind the trees and bins
furry shadows are sharpened
by the dusting of light from the moon
Pawprints disperse in the dockside puddles
as suppertime treats await
from the fisherman’s throwaways

And Moonlight skips over dock and quay
passing over gardens and trees
creating a eerie midnight scene
where once the great ships had been

As moonlight skips over marshmallow clouds
light flickers through the velvet of night
silence only broken

by the nightshift coming home

And as felines feast
Luna keeps watch
till the sound of the cockerel
and return of the sun
