A Japanese Maple in Salford

Nature, Poetry

Salford, 2nd March 2019

The Japanese maple – taken last year

Winter wasn’t kind to our friend round the back

Who was anchored to the rocks by its roots

The evergreens kept a watchful eye

As it sat there dormant in the wind rain and snow

Till one day last week – a clarion call

from our feathered chums returning from their homes in the south

“Spring’s arriving, the sun’s getting warmer”

and our little plant from the far east

began to wake up – and grow its buds

The birds they all cheered – and the wildlife revered

For as they did cheep – out of slumber the maple creeped

A Simple leaf , on the tarmac and gravel of the car park of #BASIC, the brain and spinal injury centre in Salford.

Fallen by the wind, or the passing of time with the coming of autumn, this humble leaf gave me another chance to create something special.

Been messing around with the monochrome as i continue in the quest to master my new camera.  i like this image because of the silvery veins came popping out – all from the press of a button of my new camera.

Maple & Plane.jpg

Two leaves rescued from a trip down the drain

travelling down the Trafford Road

The plane leaf – soaring like its mechanical cousin

skipping and dancing on the Salford Wind

The maple leaf – smaller, lighter quicker

playing hopscotch over the sandstone paving

Their brothers and sisters lie bereft

hiding under evergreens to keep out of the rain

as Maple and Plane are captured in colour

Impressions of Autumn – that are brighter and fuller
