Volunteers….

as you know – they don’t get paid but

lots of them sign up for the tasks they are given – it’s

up to them how many hours they do but

every day you’ll see them – aiding the cause

day by day – doing jobs for more esteem than finance

Falling

#Writephoto #Cascade

From out of the clouds they come

a torrent of aqueous creatures

lunging towards the destination they

long to be at, following each other

in a race to be the first in the

navy blue waters

going over the edge

Drifting off

#Dreams #Writeclub

Salford, 30th April 2020

Drifting into a lovely dream

resting on a hundred or more feathers and a few more bouncy springs

in time i’m picking toffee apples off a nearby tree, and

four and twenty cartoon animals are joining me

to have the wonder of all picnics

in time – i’ll be going back to the run-of-the-mill routine

not until the alarm bell

goes off beyond the garden

Birds Seasons Spring

Feathered Friends

Salford 30th April 2020

They come back every spring time

when the mercury starts to rise

taking up a home in the trees

giving passers by a surprise

Two birds sitting in their nest

wait till little uns do arrive

then mum and dad will feed them

so the little uns do thrive

And each morning when the suns up

Mum (or Dad) does hop

out of their green leaved little home

on a journey to the shops

Returning with some corn or wheat

or maybe a worm or a bug

to feed up the little birdies

in the nest all nice and snug

But like all little children

they grow up and explore

so don’t be surprised, if in morning you rise

and find the kids next door

Magic

Salford, 29th April 2020

so, what do you see ?

portrayed in the glass ball in front of you

heaven knows, but the girl in the fancy silks

engages you to look at the image

revealing itself to her in the crystal ball

everyone outside the tent, says its an act – but who knows ?

The recyclers

Salford, 29th April 2020

They’re picking up your plastic

your glass, and paper , man

they’re taking it to the depot

in their big new shiny van

They’re re-using all those used things

you would normally throw away

no time to be sticking them in the ground

they’ve found another way

The rubbish is carefully sorted

from the differently bright coloured bins

so there’s piles of different types of rubbish

from plastics and cans, to steel tins

So they’re mulching up yesterdays headlines

for books in the libraries to learn

and they’re sending your food waste for compost

instead of just letting it burn

But its not just the plants that are thriving

some food waste comes back another way

it’ll return in the van, changed by a plan

to collect more things another day

And as the people are in libraries reading

the kids are growing gardens in school

and what do they think of your food waste

when it’s feeding the plants ? they say – Cool!

Lavender

#CYW #Lavender

Lavender by Inky

Located in a part of the garden

a plant that’ll go rampant if you let it

very nice smell – its natural oil

each stem full of fragrance ready to be crushed

notably used in perfumes

deodorant ? not so much

everyone seems to like its colours though

ranging from blue to light purple

Reflection of a shared room (school retreat)

Painting from photo : Castlerigg Manor, Keswick (p) Brian F Kirkham 2020

Keswick, 1987

Up in the hills

by a mountain stream

a place of reflection and retreat

the room shared three

with a view of the lakes

a place to ponder, relax and take breaks

colour scheme – calming

a sight of some sheep

and during our breaks we would gambol and leap

The Moon, Sky, Stars and Sea

Salford 27th April 2020

#Napowrimo #writeclub #Dreams #Metaphor

The moon is a bright shiny Ten Pence piece

The sky is a furry dark blanket

The stars are little sequins reflecting on that blanket

The sea is a vast mirror, reflecting whats above

The Moon is a beacon for space travelling mice

The sky is the map they use to travel about

The stars are the destinations on that map

The sea the place they hide their spaceship

The moon lights up the sky at night

The sky keeps a kite up in flight

The stars play with the new thing in the sky

The sea watches on, and moves on by
