Darkness

#Writephoto #Darkness

Due to a change in Ra’s schedule

Arrangements were made to entertain the wildlife

Rainclouds danced about in the changing sky, but they

Kept on calling for the sun to stay about

Night time wasn’t fun for most of the animals in the fields

Exception ? those living under ground who would

Surface, during the dark hours for a

Snack or two.

Pampering after a long day in the

african sunshine

catching rainbows in their

homemade bubbles

younger members of the family

directing streams of water towards

either mum or dad

reaction – a rockabye in either trunk while in

muddier spots – hippo’s are happy in their holes

Rainbow Zebra

RAINBOW ZEBRA – a piece by inky

You couldn’t call him Black or white

he’s far too bright for that

dashing about the serengeti

and confusing all the cats

see his different coloured stripes are such

they make the whole place smile

so the lionesses don’t grab him for lunch

they’ve left him free for a while

The hippos think he’s amazing

The gazelles think just the same

The birds think he’s a great big flower

and land regularly on his frame

The bears are all a smiling

and the little ones all make their way

to say hello to the fellow with the rainbow stripes

the one who’s made their day.

Song

#Socs #Song

It’s been really quiet recently.

Actors and musicians have been in their rooms

the theatres have closed because of a bug

no buskers on the street either

Something needed to be done

resident birds calling out in tune

celebrating the sunshine

telling the human beans indoors

it’s time to get up

Cats on a street pavement

Singing in chorus

On a street corner

Dogs howling at the moon

wailing a familiar tune

out in the midnight garden

To pass the time during lockdown – i’ve been building

A few planes and Jet Fighters to pass the time

Now, today i’ve made something a little different

Keep your eyes peeled and you may see what rolled up today

Lighthouse

Beacon beaming from the bright tower

provides guidance for the skipper of a trawler

as he pulls his catch towards the harbour

following the light

that skips along the water

created by the bright bulbt

hat turns around in the tower

Getting a short eyeshot at the

latest upgrade to the tech in your pocket

is like playing with dynamite, for you’ve seen

maybe one or two features – and now, your

portable friend’s shine seems to have lost its brightness

some say – its good to see what’s coming ahead

except for those who’s garden shed is overflowing with old stuff

Stream of Consciousness Saturday Banner

a piece on a coin toss for #Socs by inky

50:50 – I think that’s what they call it

chances of you picking the right side of the coin

It seems so plausible – there’s only two choices

but like a smaller version of a roulette wheel

the fates are rising and falling

with each turn of the coin in the air

and decisions fall in the victors favour

whether the head sees the skies or ground under foot

Great Scott!!!

a technological marvel

designed to solve that particular problem in the

garden, kitchen, study – wherever

exception to the rule – is when the magic tool itself needs repair,

there’s a gadget for that – says the smiling technician.

Furry

Salford 1st July 2020

#writeclub #monsters #poetry #kidspoetry

as part of my write club challenges, i wrote a piece about a “Monster” with claws and teeth and horns – more like a caterpillar with 100 Feet!

(Anyone with kids remember a Lotsa-Lotsa-Leggs ? 🙂 )

Caterpillar – doodle of a toy by inky.

I know , you know its not halloween

but i’ve got to tell you about this thing i’ve seen

snaking round Salford’s streets

with over a hundred colourful feet

A fluffy centipede , orange fur, purple hair

grown ups walking past they stare

at multi coloured spikes on his back

they move on quickly – in case of attack

If they had thought – they’d would have seen

those spikes were just fur

he want’s something to munch on

to sleep and to purr

And who does he bump into ? – our neighbours cat

who gives him some room in the upstairs flat…

so before going to bed, he eats leaves and shoots

resting on a mat, his hundred or so boots

And during the dusk, you’ll see them both play

with a ball made of wool – in a particular way

playing under the moon and having some fun

and enjoying a nap – when the day has begun
