Few

#Fowc #Few

Happy is the humble helicopter seed

that make their way from their parent tree

and land in fresh fertile soil

to grow and prosper

for many are chosen for the journey

but few actually succeed

Sat by the platform

it waits for the sign as

gentlemen and ladies alike

now make their way to their furnished cabins

a wonderful journey to places wonderful

lakes mountains and streams – but they have to wait for the flag

Out to sea

The Shipwreck cove (Navagio) : taken from a boat off Zakynthos coast

#Octpowrimo #Ocean #Sea

Sat on a boat in the Sunshine

enjoying the ocean blues

as the sealife swims alongside

Shoals of

excitable marine life

are following the line of the boat

Slicing through the waves

each passenger lifts up slightly

as the boat goes up a touch

The Journey

#writephoto #thejourney

Salford (via Rochdale and Oldham), 17th August 2019

A Walker on a hill.

a tale of a rambler , by inky for the writephoto challenge

He went a walk with an empty backpack and staff

off to get a loaf of bread

many hadn’t heard from him for days, some

even thought him dead

For his boot prints went on and on

for what others saw as miles

past footpath and valley , hill and dale

and spot of nature where he’d stay a while

enjoying the fine weather

the silence and peace

and wildlife around him

it was a release

Drawing a scene half way up a hill

taking in sunshine and cup o’ tea till

time came to face his fate

coming back home far too late

Fork in the road

9th February 2019

#Travel #Journey #Poetry #Decisions

You’ve travelled straight down this road

for what seems like an age

heading for a destination, unplanned

life seems so uncomplicated

following the signs in blue

and passing the trees in green

when all of a sudden – a yellow alert

a fork in the road

One way to the peaks , the other to Wales

Decision to be made

Blue John or Welsh Mountain Stone ?

Roast Dinner or Fish and Chips ?

Afloat

After Salford University’s hugging students: More weird world records broken by Brits

Salford 6th January 2017

In response to the daily post prompt Float

A tale of a Rubber Duck Race down the River Irwell in Salford, Lancashire.

There was pandemonium

at the rubber duck factory

as ten thousand streetwise ducks

waddled out of the city

They moved down the irwell

passing the boats

avoiding the locks

and staying afloat

Cows in the cowshed , watched somewhat bemused

and captains of small boats looked somewhat confused

as geese and their brethren all went amuck

following the trail of a little yellow duck

Led by their leaders, of United Red and City blue

passing under bridges and past an audience too

divided in a moment, by a Liverpool ferry

but meeting in middle – and still keeping merry

In the end after journey , down canal they all flocked

meeting at gateway at Mode Wheel Lock

and first one in net, out of water they rised

and their owner received, a very special prize.

The Journey

Journey

A tale of a car journey – i’ll leave it for the reader to decide where it is 🙂

Where are we going ?

Off in the car

North to a place that isn’t that far

Directing roads to a place by the sea

Eating a plate of Fish and chips for tea

Round to a place of wonderful sand and

Seas that salty and Seafood that’s grand

Winkles and Cockles sold down by the pier

Odd shaped shells you can hear sea from ear

Nautical boats with nets out for the catch

Drifting towards crabs – now they’ve met their match

Enjoying candy floss – whilst sat in deckchair

Relaxing in company – of family there, whilst

Seabirds catch visitors to the pier unawares
