Soaring through Salford Skies

#Salford #Birds #Blue #Skies

24th May 2020

Swiftly flying through the blue

a whole host of feathered friends

lift their wings and soar through the air

for while the humans stay indoors

only the odd cat need be looked out for as they

roll about and enjoy the summer air

dancing around the tree tops and saying hello through the windows

Ode to a fly

#Napowrimo #fly #insect

A fly flew round the mulberry bush

the fly himself got bored

he headed for an open window

and through the air he soared

his little wings a flying

he stopped upon something sweet

he landed on the bowl they were in

and decided to enjoy a treat

but then who should come wondering,

as he came out of the cage

with feathers red blue and green

landing by little flies stage

and the bird had our small friend for dinner

as on the orange he munched

so now say goodbye, to our small friend , the fly

who the birdie has just had for lunch

Beside Me

Salford, March 28th 2020

#Socs #Besideme

Saturday morning.

Its a couple of days into the government lockdown in the UK for this blooming bug that’s hitting the globe like a whirlwind

and for the stream of conciousness challenge – i’ve been asked whats beside me,

I’m looking down at the table – the book i was reading yesterday is still there, a compilation of work from some fine amateur writers, who entered the great British write off for 2015 – flipping through the index – i find i appear just before half way with a short piece i wrote during a holiday at that time

My watercolour pad is just in reach, doodles and scribbles brought to life in glorious technicolor. For some strange reason, there’s an awful lot of drawings of fish – there is a reason for that folks – i’d been creating my own stencils the night before and one of them was …. lo and behold a fish.

Flipping through the watercolours, there’s a picture of a tree….haven’t come up with a title for it yet – so i’m going to pinch a title for it – “What the kids really wanted”

Standing tall

#Octpowrimo

He’s the height of my thumb

and small as can be

dwarfed by my mug of cocoa or tea

but he’s happy as can be

among the toys and bricks

putting together those coloured ones that stick

and exploration is fun, so he’ll spend his time

climbing that mug, mentioned in this rhyme

Tentative

by Brian F Kirkham

little puss woken by mother,

now wants to walk outside

bright lights ahead

he wants to explore

so his little paws touch

the living room floor

Over most of the globe, this

Right royal plant with its majesty of blooms

Can be found spreading colour indoors or outdoors alike

Happy in a pot indoors or outdoors

In the expanse of the garden, its

Delicate flowers bring a smile on special days
