Taking five

He escaped the initial onslaught of christmas day

Hiding in plain sight whilst watching the fondant animals

get chomped by all and sundry

now lying in marshmallow luxury

in his grand gingerbread palace

his life clock – short, much like himself

but he’ll enjoy his time till the hot chocolate gets brewed.

Ring

#Socs #Ring

the noise of many things in the house

from the alarm clock that wakes you in the morning

to the egg timer ensuring your boiled egg is just right

and you daren’t miss the noise of some bells

no matter how noisy it is

the bells of the bakelite phone?

it’s your reletives on the end of the line – waiting to say hello

Spotlight

Sat in a moon lit pool of brilliance

Puss looks around the darkness surrounding him

Often he’d go out of the house

To head out for a walk on the town with the

Lads, but the

Instance of the news means – nobodies visiting so

Going garden hunting is a solo pursuit

He’ll spend the time in a patch of green

Taking in the stars instead

Web II

Wiry silver threads

Enlongated under hall cupboards

By the stairs

Weaved by a six-legged weaver

Everyone admires the

Beauty of their craft

Wafting around in the draft of the house

Every insect around knows

Bristles of doom await

While the spiders home hangs around

Every fly prays for a

Brush or feather duster

When any insect

Even attempts to escape

Back comes the spider

Wiry and Delicate

Every flies nightmare

Burnt Sienna

I recall a leather chair

the smell of it as I sat in it in the morning

it’s sound as I got my back into its folds

it squeaked – like a mouse looking for food

Looking out beyond the glass

in a warm seat

looking out for snowmen

beyond the garden fence

Sitting there quietly

watching the snowflakes

fall to the ground

whilst warming my hands on a hot mug

Spiders in the house

an acrostic from inkdrop

from a prompt from the imaginarium

sometimes I wonder why they’re there

popping up from out of the garden and setting up in the kitchen

i get the idea, these six legged fellows don’t like the cold…

desperate, they’ll weave their webs in hidden spaces, like

every cubby hole or stair cupboard

Resident, until cleared out with a head of a brush
