Pint Sized Sheriff

#Writeclub #poetry #Nursery #Playground #School

Note from Inky : I’ve used the english terms for the younger end of school here, i realise they might be different elsewhere!

In response to the write club prompt “I am the law”

Written in a moment of insomnia by inky.

The posse in the playground are all taking cover –

there’s a new sheriff in town

Rolling into the playground on his wheeled silver horse

he’ll take on the bad guys (and raiders of course)

new hat, new leathers and britches

he’ll sort out the wild west of this dry gulch school

They took out the last sheriff in a high stakes duel

he landed on his bottom in the paddling pool!

And covered in sticky and given a fright

his deputies were in soapy suds for most of the night

The bandits they raided the tuck shop and all

till the leader of the playground sent out a call

Dressed in his boots and his one gallon hat

he yelled “i’m the sheriff!” and that was that

Water cascaded from east to the west

and the soaked bandits gave up to the sheriff that was best.

So to supersoakers in playground there’s a new kid in town

armed with his water pistols he’ll take them all down.

Post Note: When all of this happened teachers were in a muddle

on a bright shiny day the playground was a puddle!

Interest

In the great scheme of things,

new or old alike

take great attention to something that

engages them – and fills the time that they call “Free”

Reading good books, or taking part in sport –

equal in weight to

somebody who decides

to undertake the activity

Watercolour

Roman Remains at Oludeniz , Turkey in Watercolour by B.F.Kirkham

Salford, Sunday 29th January 2017

A Watercolour painting of the Roman ruins at Oludeniz, Turkey

Mum and Dad were out of the house this weekend, visiting my little sister and her family,

A marathon session of CSI, NCIS and FA Cup football were planned – and went very well,

(Manchester Utd winning 4-0 on the big tv)

but in between times, i’ve been painting scenes from old holiday snaps and diaries

Rough pencil marks guided me around the page as i blocked out the scene in paint.

Colours used on this one –

Cerelean Blue for the sea,

Burnt Umber for the sand

Sap Green for the plants on the path

Vermillion, Burnt Umber, Crimson and Yellow Ochre for the bricks

Engraving Art

Revealing an image one bit at a time….

Although I never studied it at school, I’ve always had an interest in art. Whether it be using pencil, pen, pastel, crayon or ink, there’s something that raises a smile when I’ve produced something worthy of hanging on the wall.

It’s also therapeutic, in that it aids my attention and concentration.  Which is good for me as occasionally my mind wonders like an untrained puppy….

The Artworks here were created from kits – a Preprint is printed on the top of a blackened metallic / coloured border.  As the image is scraped away the picture in the metallic is revealed.

The Kits come in five kinds – Copper, Silver, Gold, Holographic and Rainbow.  My favourite subject ? the Animals are my favourite subject
